Horrific conditions in Casavieja, Spain, yesterday. With fierce winds driving smoke and embers through the area, firefighters from BRIF Puerto del Pico and the Castilla y León agency battle to protect homes and lives as the Burgohondo wildfire rages nearby.

“POTUS’ appearance followed a full day of ‘Executive Time’ and a late afternoon Oval Office press event that showed how unmoored and unmanageable he has become; we are enabling and indulging active addiction at the highest level of government.
Trump sat behind his desk like some sort of primordial lizard king as his supplicants fanned out behind him, all dressed in identical matching blue suits and too long ties.
DJT’s bloated face looked like someone had stuck sunflower seed shells sideways on a rotting pumpkin and then slathered it in bacon grease. He slithered as much as he spoke, a pale serpentine tongue darting back and forth over his thin crooked lips.
The sideways mouth that has only spewed lies in a lifetime of unworthy words.
Each answer was crazier than the last until it built to a cacophonous crescendo and his twin blonde assistants, who look like they were genetically engineered in a backroom lab at an Ole Miss sorority and should be named Kayla One and Kayla Two, hurriedly ushered the gobsmacked press out of the Oval Office.
Trump has always been a mess, especially behind the scenes, but he is now disintegrating before our eyes - not in a shrivel up and disappear kind of way, but more like a distended farm animal cooking in the midday sun half-eaten by piranha, ribboned and rancid, floating down a river poisoning all the other fish.
DJT’s particular kind of rot is dangerous: we must disinfect and protect our country from it.”open.substack.com/pub/noelca…

An entire lake. An entire fish population. Gone.
Arizona's San Carlos Lake has been closed after drought and falling water levels triggered the death of virtually every fish.
This is what ecological collapse looks like. Not one species. Whole ecosystems failing before our eyes.

Trump is picking a fight with Kaitlin Collins because he already knows he lost a fight with Iran. He is scared and knows he is in trouble so he is doing what he has always done, lashing out and abusing women. Lifelong pattern for the predator POS POTUS.

Heritage Foundation’s government-relations director for defense and foreign policy — Matthew Christopher Wingate, who was previously the national security adviser to Ted Cruz and Joni Ernst — was arrested at the Russell Senate Office Building on July 14 after security found a loaded 9mm pistol magazine in his briefcase, plus pressed pills that tested presumptive positive for cocaine and fentanyl.
His explanation: He forgot the mag, and the drugs were “prescribed.”
The think tank that built its brand on law-and-order and family values had its top defense lobbyist walking into the Senate with fentanyl-laced pills and ammo.
That absolutely tracks.

Barn swallows are in trouble. They've declined substantially in North America, roughly 25 to 40 percent depending on the dataset and time period, with far steeper losses in Canada where some estimates approach 74 percent since 1970.
Barn swallows evolved alongside humans. For thousands of years, they nested on cliffs and in caves, then found that barns, bridges and building eaves were better: sheltered, elevated, near the open fields where they catch flying insects on the wing. For most of agricultural history this arrangement has worked great.
Modern construction has made suitable nesting ledges harder to find in some places. But nesting-site loss is only one suspected contributor to a larger and still-not-fully-understood decline, alongside changes in agriculture, insect prey availability, pesticide exposure and extreme weather. The causes are complex and researchers are still working them out.
You can help by providing a nesting ledge. A barn swallow nest platform is not a birdhouse. It's a simple open shelf, roughly six to seven inches wide and deep, mounted under an existing overhang where the birds have clear flight access: under a porch eave, a garage overhang, an open shed roof, or a barn.
If attaching it to your house doesn't appeal, a freestanding post with a genuinely sheltered bracket in an open area can work. Mount it eight to fifteen feet up as a rough guideline, and keep a nearby mud source in mind since they build nests from mud pellets. Barn swallows tend to return to established colony sites and reuse nest locations, so once they adopt it, they'll likely come back.
A nesting pair catches a remarkable volume of flying insects throughout the season. A small wood platform keeps them working hard on pest control.

This dinner is a disgrace. Trump’s rambling, unhinged speech is full of hate and spite. Just spewing nastiness at his usual targets. Let’s not sanitize how truly ugly it was. This would be a great moment for members of the press to get up and walk out.
