Hey everyone, I’m Rob — storm chaser for a little over a decade and founder of the Chasin’ Chaos Storm Team. We cover a lot of ground across the Southeast, the Ohio Valley, and Texas, reporting severe weather, documenting storms, and doing our best to help when communities are hit hard.
Our chase vehicle carries Starlink, onboard comms, radar systems, lighting, and field gear so we can operate even when towers go down or coverage disappears. We’re still growing and improving season by season — trying to do things the right way, keep people informed, and show up with purpose instead of ego.
We also live for the in-between moments. Our adventures don’t stop when the radar is empty — earlier this morning I was on a mountain peak in Arkansas hanging out with a raccoon in a tiny jacket. Crazy!
Sometimes chasing chaos means storms, and sometimes it’s just life being unexpectedly wild in the best way.
We’re grateful to be here — to learn from this community, share forecasts, chase logs, radar breakdowns, and swap stories both on and off the plains. No drama, no superiority — just people who respect the weather and love the world we get to explore under it.
If you want to see what we do or ride along:

Thanks for having me. Looking forward to getting to know everyone. 🌩️🌪 – at Alabama, USA
We were just down there. It’s not 3rd world. The national guard is already in Florida. You know, they have their own. Cleanup was actually pretty fast in most areas and others just take time. It’s been a week. People are STILL there. Plus dozens of other entities as well as hundreds of volunteers. This is blatantly fake news.
President Trump should send the National Guard to the Florida Panhandle.
I swear, it’s third world here right now. It has been 8 days since the Hurricane and some people still have no power and no internet.
There are food distribution sites giving out food to people whose homes have been destroyed.
It feels like the cleanup has been very slow. People are so pissed off.

Hurricane Isaias very powerful 100+ mph winds hammering Fort Walton Beach to Destin, Florida

Conditions rapidly deteriorating in #Navarre #Flwx #Isaias. Be sure to follow @NaderChaserRob for some epic footage later!
We're set up on Navarre Beach and Isaias is a Cat 3 sitting offshore. Conditions are going downhill fast.
The locals are out in it. People flying kites, swimming, and bringing the family down for photos like it's a normal beach day. It's not. Waves are already 8 to 10 feet and the surge is slowly creeping in.
We're going after the eyewall, and we'll be watching the islands as the water takes them.
Live stream is giving me trouble, so I'm going to post updates here as fast as I can. Follow along, more coming. – at Navarre Beach, FL

Google's AI says Pensacola. The traditional models say Mobile Bay. The official forecast is in between. We find out Friday night.

Hurricane Isaias is a Category 1 Hurricane in the Gulf as of Thursday Afternoon.
The system seems be encountering shear based on the satellite presentation, but NHC still is forecasting some additional strengthening through tomorrow morning.
Winds are expected to be in the 90-100 mph range at the time of landfall around midnight tomorrow night. The wind field will expand as Isaias accelerates through Alabama, and gusts to 50/55 mph now seem possible up into the northern half of the state Saturday morning. #hurricane #tropical #tropics #Alabama #weather #alwx #isaias #gulf
Late night update on 92L. 00z runs are in and I don't love how the intensity numbers keep creeping up.
Gulf system, southwest side, hasn’t moved much, still trying to get its act together. But a hurricane at landfall is on the table now. Name would be Isaias. Lots of time between now and then so it will likely change.
Models are mostly stacked on landfall between SE Louisiana and the Mississippi coast. That leaves us on the east side here in Alabama. Rain, gusts, and a spin-up or two in the bands if it plays out that way.
Landfall timing looks like Friday night or Saturday. Too early to tell you who gets what, so I'm not calling local impacts yet.
Video in the morning.

LATE NIGHT LOOK: 00Z guidance is rolling in tonight; eyes are on Invest 92L in the Southwest Gulf.
Intensity guidance is more aggressive, suggesting potential for this feature to become a hurricane before landfall Friday night or Saturday. The name will be Isaias.
Most models are clustered around SE Louisiana and the Mississippi coast; this solution would put Alabama on the east side, with potential for heavy rain, gusty winds, and maybe a few isolated tornadoes.
Still too early for a specific impact forecast. Be watching for the next video briefing here early tomorrow morning.
Invest 92L is up in the Gulf and NHC has it at 80%.
Everybody's going to argue about how strong it gets. Rain is the part I'm worried about. Forecasters are looking at 4 to 8 inches from Southeast Louisiana to North Florida, with pockets of 10+ if it gets stronger. If you're in a flood-prone spot, don't wait for a name or a category. Get ready now.
Surge is possible too, and the weekend is when it gets here. Anybody headed to the beaches from Mississippi to the Panhandle, keep a close eye on this.
We're headed down later this week to cover it. Doing updates right here, so follow so you don't miss any.
Gulf's getting active. NHC has the trough in the SW Gulf at 80% over 7 days, 60% in 48 hours.
Right now it's just a bunch of storms with no center. They think a depression forms mid-week, drifts east, then turns north.
Nobody knows yet where it ends up or how bad it gets. If you're on the Gulf Coast, keep an eye on it.

The Gulf just went from 70% to 80%. And in Google DeepMind's model, 68% of 1,000 runs make this a hurricane.

THE GULF: Needless to say there are many, many questions about the weather for the Gulf Coast, and for Alabama this weekend.
NHC now gives the disturbance in the far southwest Gulf a 70% chance of developing into a depression or storm. And almost all of the reliable guidance brings the system northward in the direction of the central Gulf Coast.
Inevitably, this will mean lots of rain this weekend for parts of the coast and the Deep South. But a word of caution… It is still simply too early to know how much rain will fall in any given location, and when the rain starts and stops.
Once the system becomes better organized, and we gather data from hurricane hunters, forecast confidence becomes much higher. Stay tuned for updates…
