The only goal for 2026: work hard, play harder, and workout the hardest. Not in that order.

You can do it all. I know this from experience - work, home, workouts, family, learning new skills, anything. What matters gets time. What doesn’t gets excuses. It’s really that simple.

Black coffee is like strength training: no instant pleasure, just a slow, smooth aftertaste that grows on you, and keeps you refreshed long after.

A lot of people need to be reminded of this, ever so often. Say less, do less. But do what you say, honor your word.
A powerful reminder from Carl Jung:

If a country stays developing long enough, it falls under the category of under-developed. Similarly, if you don’t grow for long enough in any dimension of life, you are stagnant. Move slowly, but move forward. Always.

home for thanksgiving and found people are watching the new show pluribus, which is funny timing considering it pairs almost too well with the artificial hivemind work that was just awarded neurips best paper this year in the show, humanity has turned into a collective hivemind that is perpetually content but only because it’s stripped of individual personality and dissent. the paper warns that reward models are behaving like the virus in the show, sanding away idiosyncratic responses until model diversity collapse seeing the show’s universal agreement virus after reading the implications section of the paper makes it almost feel like a companion piece lol

I recently mentored a group of students at my alma mater, and it reminded me that education in India - though extensive &rigorous still leans heavily on grades. I wonder if this is a top-down cycle: do colleges emphasize grades because employers still prioritize marks over skills

Vince Gilligan making me rewatch Better Call Saul. What a beautiful piece of writing! Kim Wexler deserved an Emmy for BCS. What a powerhouse!

I’ve been using an Apple Watch since 2015, and I don’t think I’ll ever switch to anything else. The Oura ring is a great addition for tracking sleep and other vitals; rest everything such as whoop, fitbits feels like loud noise. However, I do want to try Garmin for running.

Have started doing this recently and it’s the most generous feeling ever. Book donation.
When you’ve finished a book, do you keep it? I donate many. I only keep favorites.

Inaction is the worst enemy of ambition.
The perfect moment does not exist. If you wait for one to start your endeavor, you will be waiting a long long time. Take five small, imperfect steps towards your goals rather than just talking to fifty people about your big vision.

I think that the end game of AGI is substrate agnostic. That means that AGI ultimately, if it is being built, is going to be smart enough to understand how AGI works. This means it's not going to be better than people at AGI research but it fully understands how it works.
