In the middle of a climate emergency, did National think to check how much extra pollution and congestion there’d be from building unnecessary highways?
No. They didn’t.

There are about 600 000 NZers who haven't had a vaccine shot yet. Please can you do it soon. Don't give up your job in protest. It's just a small teaspoon of medicine.

One of the things mentioned in @SiouxsieW @TheSpinoffTV article is revisiting ventilation in our built environment. Seems to me the perfect opportunity to look at energy efficiency at the same time and building owners can use @NZGBC tools for this.

The Government's decision to enact a less ambitious policy for reducing emissions from buildings could see it lose out on millions of dollars in energy savings and averting tens of thousands of tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions
A 2018 analysis of options to reduce emissions in buildings showed the most ambitious policies would have net benefits of $18.5m, but the Govt is advancing with a less ambitious policy instead newsroom.co.nz/govt-forgoes-…

The latest proposed Building Code update includes totally unacceptable options and we're concerned the proposed changes don't integrate with the Govt's own Building for Climate Change programme.

Good summation but poor conclusion. Referring Skypath or Light Rail to build more houses is a false trade off. Both tracks lead to economic stimulus and many jobs in one aren’t transferable to the other.
Also, welcome back #kiwibuild.

Our client has no roof at the moment (we were reframing just before lockdown). It’s watertight for now.
I’ve heard of steel in the ground rusting waiting for concrete.
I’ve heard MBIE get over 6000 emails a day with urgent building issues.
Stay at home so this can be over.

Did I just hear the head of Infrastructure NZ call for a return to Kiwibuild in @ninetonoon ? (Know he didn’t say that per se, but certainly in spirit).
He’s right, of course. And this was partly why it was set up - for the next economic collapse. Irony much @PhilTwyford ?

This is truly bizarre. Simon actually says that he’s been told builders saw horses need to signed off by an engineer. What nonsense.
