I'm in the @WSJ this afternoon on the failures of campaign finance reform and how decades of poorly designed restrictions have made elections more negative and less transparent. wsj.com/opinion/finance-refo…

Some personal news I’m grateful to share. After a medical appointment at the Mayo Clinic this week, my pathology results came back clear.
I am cancer free.
Thank you to my family, friends, doctors, and everyone who prayed for me, checked in, and supported me along the way.
A special thank you to President Trump for his unwavering support. I am deeply grateful and will continue to work to advance his America First Agenda.

A brief moment of personal reflection: On the morning of 9/11 I was meeting with my good friend Majority Whip Tom DeLay in his office in the US Capitol building. An aide came in to turn on the TV and show the Congressman that a plane had hit one of the towers. It was somber, but we figured it was a terrible mishap by a small plane. The meeting continued. Then the second plane hit, after which the Capitol police rushed in and escorted Mr. DeLay out of the building to a secure location. The few of us in the meeting sat there looking at the TV, not saying any words, and then the Pentagon was struck. My dear friend Blaise Hazelwood and I were among the last to leave the Capitol, and we could see the smoke rising from the Pentagon. We later learned of the heroism of Todd Beamer taking down flight 93. It is likely that plane was headed for either the Capitol or the WH. Beamer and his "let's roll" crew saved many lives that day, quite possibly my own. Several years ago I summoned the courage to visit the Flight 93 Memorial in Pennsylvania. I'm not much of a crier, but I did break down that day. "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."

A United Airlines Boeing 757, maybe Flight 93, has crashed near Pittsburgh. The cause is unknown.
One nearby farmer took this picture, the only on-the-ground evidence that the plane has gone down:

24-year-old equities trader Bradley Fechet, working on the 89th floor of the South Tower, calls his parents and leaves a voicemail: “Hey Mom, it’s Brad. I just wanted to let you know…a plane has crashed into World Trade Center One. We’re fine, we’re in World Trade Center Two. I’m obviously alive over here, but a pretty scary experience. We just saw a guy jump right across from us, from the 91st floor. Give me a call back. I’ll be here all day. Love you.”

A worker on the 74th floor of the North Tower has managed to e-mail a photograph of the fire on that floor. It looks intense.

Andrea Yates, who drowned her five children in a bathtub in June, is mounting a defense of postpartum depression.
Definitely a controversial issue - does being sick make killing your kids understandable??
Okay I need to stop watching TV and go out onto the street, New York is the city that never sleeps after all.
