After 60 years of caring for New Yorkers, Osvaldo Lynn is retiring from NYC Health + Hospitals/Carter Nursing Home in Harlem!
Originally from Guayama, Puerto Rico, Osvaldo began his career as a Dietary Aide at Goldwater Specialty Hospital on Roosevelt Island in 1966 and moved to Carter in 2013. Over six decades, he dedicated himself to helping patients and residents live better lives—always guided by a simple belief: “Food is medicine.”
“Food a big part of their lives – it’s something they look forward to whether it’s the meal, ice cream, ginger ale, or an extra piece of fruit or pudding as long as their dietary plan allowed it. Every day, I felt like I contributed to our patients and residents living better lives,” he said.
For Osvaldo, the people he met became more than coworkers and patients. “Over the years, we became family,” he says.
As he begins his retirement, Osvaldo leaves his colleagues with the same values that defined his remarkable career:
“Always lead life with empathy and compassion, and be kind…because the patients and residents we care for today can be you or your loved ones in the future.”
Thank you, Osvaldo, for an extraordinary 60 years of service to NYC Health + Hospitals and the New Yorkers we serve. We wish you a happy retirement!
