1. The remnants of Tropical Depression Fifteen-E are expected to regenerate into a tropical depression well to the southeast of the Hawaiian Islands during the next day or two. While uncertainty remains on how close the system will move toward Hawaii, winds will likely increase across portions of the state during the week, with the potential for more significant impacts beginning late this week or over the weekend. 2. Heavy rainfall will begin to affect the eastern portions of Hawaii on Wednesday. Periods of heavy rain are likely to continue across the Big Island and Maui through Saturday. Life-threatening, catastrophic flooding and mudslides are possible from rainfall totals in excess of a foot, especially in areas of steep terrain. Across the remainder of Hawaii, lesser rainfall totals are expected, with isolated flooding possible. 3. Interests in Hawaii should closely monitor the progress of this system through this upcoming weekend.

Key Message of extreme heat for much of the Central, Southern, and Eastern U.S. released June 22, 2026, for June 30 to July 6. Strong mid-level high pressure over the Southeast will shift westward and expand north-northwestward, bringing extreme heat and high humidity to these regions. High Risk (at least 60 percent chance) for parts of the Mid-Atlantic, including Washington, D.C., June 30 to July 2, with temperatures over 95 degrees Fahrenheit and heat indices at least 105 degrees Fahrenheit. Moderate Risk (40 to 60 percent chance) extends June 30 to July 4 for broader Mid-Atlantic areas, including Philadelphia and Charlotte. Slight Risk (20 to 40 percent chance) covers much of the Eastern U.S. and Great Plains June 30 to July 6, with highs at least 90 degrees F. The Texas Panhandle and western Oklahoma may reach 100 degrees F June 30 to July 3. Record high nighttime lows in the high 70s to low 80s will prevent overnight recovery, significantly increasing heat illness risks.
