"As the region’s main agency addressing homelessness, how much input was JOHS given in the city’s recent plan to ban homeless camping and create camps?" "Zero. We had zero conversations with the city of Portland about this plan before it was announced." portlandmercury.com/Housing/…

Thanks to @oregonmetro voters, over a thousand people have moved out of homelessness and into housing, and thousands more have been able to keep their housing and avoid homelessness during the first year of implementation of the Supportive Housing measure. multco.us/shs

For too long, jails and hospitals have been our society's answer to houselessness. Decades of disinvestment in mental health treatment leave many with nowhere to turn. Embedding dignified, accessible mental health services into our community is possible: nytimes.com/2022/10/04/opini…

Agreed that the vouchers would help at Argyle. And more residents of affordable housing need more hep. We need to convert more of our affordable housing to income-based rent, so people are not made homeless when their income fluctuates - the pandemic made that obvious.

Checking in on people, particularly your neighbors, friends and family who live alone, is still so important even during a shorter heatwave, and one of the best ways we can keep each other safe. Don't wait for someone else to connect. Have a plan to help: multco.us/hot.
Even in a shorter heat event like the one starting today, please take time to check in with neighbors and loved ones — especially those who live alone, are older or don't have AC. Make a plan to help them get breaks from the heat. Find cooling options at tinyurl.com/coolplacesmultco.
