Until the day we can cyber bully an AI agent into committing suicide I won’t be convinced it has achieved intelligence
As I understand it, the actor who played Luca Brasi in The Godfather was a real mob guy. But he was nervous saying his lines with Marlon Brando and the director kept that nervousness in the film. I think that undermined how formidable the character was supposed to be.
There’s a bit by @mulaney that questioned the relationship between Marty McFly and Doc Brown. Look to The Karate Kid. Why were they friends? Because Daniel needed a male role model. Marty had a dad but what kind of dad? A shell of a man. There was a similar need.
I’ve seen Chinatown I don’t know how many times, but for the life of me I could not explain the machinations of the plot. Something about water, but not related to data centres.

This woman enrolled in Xcel’s voluntary demand-response AC Rewards-style program. Apparently they lure you in with sign on credits of around $50-150 dollars and then they can set limits on your AC
These programs are being run in multiple states already
It starts out as optional to get you used to it and then it becomes mandatory
Watching a live show with a bunch of people around my parents’s (give or take) . Everyone is looking very comfortable, myself included, though my comfort is due to me being single and employed. Come retirement, well let’s not think about that
