“Do you have to be the right kind of Black to be shown at the Smithsonian?” Filmmaker Eli Steele is questioning the Smithsonian's commitment to viewpoint diversity after his documentary “White Guilt,” which challenges progressive assumptions about race, failed to secure a public screening at the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Correspondence reviewed by Fox News Digital shows the museum declined his proposed dates, offered a $35,000 private rental option and did not respond to a follow-up seeking alternative dates for a public screening. The Smithsonian did not respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment. Full story here foxnews.com/politics/smithso…

Come see this film and enjoy the discussion!
"Shelby and Eli Steele’s documentary ‘White Guilt’ explores how racial guilt has become a source of social power, shaping Americans’ understanding of their history, identity, and obligations to one another. "My research at psychFORM Research Lab suggests this pressure is widespread. "In a study of 2,188 undergraduates at five Chicago-area universities, we found: -- 84% felt pressure to adopt critical views of Western culture to succeed academically. -- 74% monitored or adjusted their speech to avoid negative reactions. -- 92% reported that faculty negatively judged students expressing patriotic or pro-Western views. -- Only 16% believed professors encouraged independent thinking about Western culture when students disagreed. "At the same time, college students are experiencing alarming levels of psychological distress. The 2024–25 Healthy Minds Study found that 37% screened positive for moderate-to-severe depression, 33% for anxiety, and 11% reported suicidal ideation. "Could an academic culture that emphasizes collective guilt and discourages dissent be contributing to this mental health crisis? "These findings do not establish causation. But they raise an urgent question that universities should be willing to investigate." -- @KevWaldman for @NTNeighbors Full article link below.

Usually the best response to people like this is to ignore them. But my father, Shelby Steele, who grew up under segregation in Chicago, and I have dealt with this behavior for decades, and this video gives you an eye-opening example of what it's been like. This woman is furious that a community group in the leafy north suburbs of Chicago, New Trier Neighbors (@NTNeighbors), is screening my new documentary, "White Guilt," at New Trier High School on November 5. In the video, she blasts @NTNeighbors for hosting Charlie Kirk (they actually did not but probably wish they could have) and calls Kirk one of "those disgusting white boys, racist, misogynistic white boys," and smiles as she recounts how she found out he was shot. She then attacks me, my racial identity, and falsely accuses me of platforming Nick Fuentes. She calls my film a "stupid movie that is full of Islamophobia" and "a continuation of the great replacement theory." Then she says she feels "really bad for the workers of color who have to clean up that vile auditorium" after we leave. The kicker is the end of the video when she claims that reading Ibram X. Kendi gave her wisdom and authority. She hasn't seen the film. But truth is not her objective here. Her only desire is to brand me and the film as racist so her neighbors fall in line. She is already trying to drum up support for protests to intimidate people. That's white guilt intimidation at work. We owe nobody an explanation. The film will be shown as is and we invite all, including this woman, to see the film for themselves. If you're in the Chicago area, buy a ticket before we sell out: zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/wh…

If you want to understand why New Trier Neighbors formed, read The Atlantic piece "Why I Quite the Tenure Track" by Tyler Austin Harper, posted below by @JohnHMcWhorter. New Trier embraced the same identity politics-laced activities as Bates did. New Trier Neighbors, like Professors McWhorter and Taylor, thinks identity politics is anti-educational and that our schools should do better for our kids and community. xitter.cf/JohnHMcWhorter/status/…
This is utterly perfect and should stand forever as a go-to representation of a major problem with education in our era. It also happens to give a look-in at what I describe in my piece today about Arday. theatlantic.com/magazine/202…
