I was assaulted by MAGA outside of Madison Square Garden for singing Bob Marley. "Is this Woke?" He punched my Megaphone and called me a slur. This is the hateful divided America Trump Wants! But Progression will prevail!🌈

@BobFlavin I always wondered how traffic wands got damaged and now I know. This driver simply drove over one to change lanes on quays.

My identity is a unique blend of Pakistani, Dutch, and Irish influences. Being born to Pakistani migrant parents, I grew up in the Netherlands immersed in both Pakistani and Dutch cultures. I speak Urdu with my wife, Dutch with my siblings, and English with my children. My late parents spoke to us in Urdu and Punjabi. 🇵🇰🇳🇱🇮🇪
Moving to Ireland 20 years ago has had a profound impact on my identity as well. Ireland welcomed me with open arms, allowing for family reunification and becoming the birthplace of my children.
I studied in @tcddublin, founded the @IrishMuslimCoun and established a successful business. Ireland holds a special place in my heart, and I consider myself Irish in spirit. The Muslim values I hold dear, such as family, compassion, , hospitality, empathy, respect for elders, and community, align closely with Irish values.
I also find parallels between the struggle against occupation and colonialism in both Ireland and Pakistan/India. While I may not have a direct familial connection to the Irish fight for freedom, I do have family members who fought against the occupation of India, a result of the same colonial powers that oppressed Ireland for eight centuries.
Ireland's rich history as a land of scholars and saints resonates with me as a person of Muslim faith. The emphasis on faith, tradition, and community in Irish culture is something I find heartwarming. It aligns with the Abrahamic values I hold dear.
Having such diverse cultural backgrounds grants me the privilege of experiencing the best of many cultures and heritages. It enriches my perspective and allows me to embrace different aspects of my identity. While the racist rhetoric may try to push me into a single box, I embrace the beauty of my multifaceted identity and appreciate the opportunities it brings for understanding, empathy, and connection.
