We advocate for the amendment of Section 89 to provide for a people-driven process, thereby guaranteeing the right of citizens to actively participate in the formulation and amendment of constitutional provisions (guarantee the right to participate).

#WeThePeople πŸ‡§πŸ‡Ό We demand that BWgovernment revoke the Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2024 as it stands and its referral to The High Court of Botswana for a priori review - the Bill has some noteworthy and commendable aspects.

When will the government show reception and accountability to the needs of Batswana and take heed of Batswana's requests and concerns on the above-mentioned matters? When will citizens be allowed to advocate and make these kinds of decisions for themselves?

This method of appointment fails to safeguard against appointments for sinister motives. Besides this, the president also has full entitlement to setting the date of the general elections.

For a long time now, Batswana have expressed with concern the lack of independence of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC). Contending that the power to appoint the Secretary to the IEC is vested on the president absolutely.

#RatifyTheCharter πŸ‡§πŸ‡Ό We believe that in order for a country to be fully democratic, all citizens - women, men, youth - must be empowered to participate fully in the governance process. Voting, advocacy and decision-making are some of the ways through which this can be achieved.

#RatifyTheCharter πŸ‡§πŸ‡Ό As we are inching a step closer to elections season, now will be a good time to review the past elections and the controversies surrounding that time, in our country. What did we do wrong? What did we do right? What do we need to fix?

Achievements and failures, economically, politically, socially and every other aspect. Where did we thrive and where did we fall short? What do we need to improve and what do we need to do away with?

We hosted young politicians from Zambia,Nigeria & Zimbabwe; they expressed issues that hinder youth & women from being active in politics. One said politics in Africa is commercialised, making it difficult for more youth & women to be involved, even though they are the majority.
