When #Illini HC Bret Bielema was in high school, he thought he'd play college football at D3 Augustana. But his father, Arnie, encouraged him to chase the biggest opportunities possible.
Bielema came home after school and found a letter on his bed from his dad, who passed away this weekend.
It said, "What you conceive in your mind and believe in your heart you will achieve."
"I tattooed (the quote) on my calf when I was at the University of Iowa," said Bielema.
Arnie, who sold sporting goods, used his connections to help get Bret at Iowa football camps and be discovered.
Bielema would walk on at Iowa, become a team captain and play in the Rose Bowl. After his collegiate career, he started his coaching career at Iowa.
Bielema said, "I just think about where I am now, 56 years of age. The decision he helped me make when I was 18, without helping me make it, he let me kind of come to that decision, has affected my life forever."

BREAKING: Senators Ron Johnson and Rand Paul releasing the first batch of texts from Dr. Anthony Fauci’s government iPhone.
In one January 2021 exchange, Fauci, then-CDC Director Rochelle Walensky, and Surgeon General Vivek Murthy discussed COVID vaccination and pregnant women.
Fauci flagged a potential concern following the second dose of the vaccine, writing that many experience a “significant cytokine storm and fever” and that it could “theoretically be associated with miscarriage in the first trimester.”

I’ve been saying this for years!
Congrats to the NFL Hall of Fame class of 2026
Pay attention young athletes! Two great lessons can be learned from these all time greats.
While coaches and parents may pressure you to specialize in one sport don’t listen to them! Be an athlete not a specialist.
While you may be tempted to transfer for a better opportunity or a guaranteed starting job….get better where you are and make your TEAM better!
I give you Exhibits A, B, C, D, E
Drew Brees played varsity football, basketball, and baseball at Westlake High School
Adam Vinatieri lettered in wrestling, basketball, track, and soccer at Rapid City High School
Luke Kuechly played football (LB, TE, and S) and lacrosse at St Xavier
Larry Fitzgerald played football, basketball, and ran track and field at Academy of Holy Angels
Roger Craig played football, wrestled, and ran track and field at Central Davenport High School
Be an athlete, not a specialist!!
Be great where you are. Don’t take the easy way out to a better team. Make the team you are on great.
Wow! Has this kid ever been held accountable for anything in his life?? It’s like he has never been told NO before…

Being a dad is not for the weak! Hang in there Boyd!
Cubs pitcher Matthew Boyd suffered a left meniscus injury while sitting down to play with his kids, per @JesseRogersESPN
Boyd will undergo surgery and is expected to return in 4-6 weeks
So remind me again what happened to the Michigan Wolverines who were caught stealing teams sideline signals? Not saying there shouldn’t be a punishment… Just saying it doesn’t match the “crime.”
Hmm…

Phenomenal work here Ryan.

Listen.. it doesn’t matter what conference anyone is in. The better team on the better day is going to win #B1G #SEC #ACC
#Miami Hurricanes beating OSU is not about a conference, it’s about coaching, motivation and momentum. Let’s all enjoy the moment. Go #CFBPlayoff
No skin in the game as I’m not a fan of either team. But to compare Matt Campbell’s rosters to James Franklin’s at PSU is not comparing apples to apples. Had Campbell had PSUs resources and talent his record would assuredly been much better.
