“I commend the outstanding work of the National Park Service’s United States Park Police and law enforcement partners including the FBI and US Attorney’s Office for their commitment to holding people accountable for unacceptable criminal behavior. National parks in Washington, D.C. are some of our nation’s most cherished First Amendment spaces and we remain dedicated to providing safe spaces for the peaceful assembly and expression of First Amendment rights. However, as we said at the time, criminal activity, including disorderly conduct and vandalism, will not be tolerated.”
