Driving Climate Resilience in Public Health at #IIWW2026
The National Programme on Climate Change and Human Health (NPCCHH), NCDC represented the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare at the 9th India International Water Week 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
Through its dedicated stall, NCDC showcased key interventions at the intersection of water, climate and health, including climate adaptation plans, SOPs, training resources, rainwater harvesting models, water quality testing and IEC materials.
The showcase also highlighted preparedness for heat-related illnesses, extreme weather events, air pollution, floods and GLOFs, while engaging representatives from line ministries, leading institutions, global experts and students.
Bringing water security, climate resilience and public health together to strengthen climate-ready healthcare systems.

A workshop to brainstorm and shape India’s National Adaptation Plan on Air Pollution and Health 2.0 (2027–2031) was organised on 17 August 2026 by the Centre for Climate Change and Human Health, National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), with technical support from @NRDC_India
The proposed Adaptation Plan would consolidate what has already been initiated under NPCCHH and will reposition the document as a five-year public health strategy that better links air pollution with India’s health burden, SDG commitments, health system needs

The discussion helped build clarity on the pathway for closer alignment between global SDG indicators and the national framework, particularly for SDG 3.9.1 and SDG 3.9.2.
The session highlighted ongoing efforts to examine relevant global indicators for potential adoption/adaptation within India’s National Indicator Framework.
