Last day with the RPO! I will miss you so, Friend! In the lab, the instrument is called the “Dirt Burner,” but I’ve taken to calling it “Friend,” which I think may have helped with the analyses 🤪 – at Woods Hole, MA

What an exciting day! As a part of my @NOSAMSLab Internship at @WHOI , I’ll be analyzing samples from the Eel and Umpqua using the ramped pyrolysis oxidation (RPO) instrument, which is behind me! Today, I’ve been practicing how to do fast ramps.

🚨New Paper Alert!🚨 Did temperatures warm or cool throughout the #Holocene? Climate models and proxy data disagree. I’m excited to share our take from Arctic Alaska with @BrownGeoSci @Brown_EnvSoc @CIRESnews @MBLScience authors.elsevier.com/a/1bQW3…

Check out Pete's first paper, on midcontinent Holocene paleoenvironments. Glad we could provide some dates for your age model, @PetePuleo!
Yesterday, my first ever (and first authored) paper came out. It's title is "Late glacial and Holocene paleoenvironments in the midcontinent United States, inferred from Geneva Lake leaf wax, ostracode valve, and bulk sediment chemistry". Find a plain language summary below! 1/7

500 million cars-worth of carbon emissions are currently locked in #Arctic #permafrost, but the amount that could be released to the atmosphere as the #greenhousegas CO2 might be underestimated by 14%. The missing ingredient? Sunlight. @NOSAMSLab @NSF_GEO go.whoi.edu/Bowen

#Science doesn’t happen without infrastructure, and @NSF makes it possible. This means things like @oceanobserv, @NOSAMSLab, and since access to the sea is critical to #ocean science, docks like WHOI’s proposed C-WATER facility. Thank you and happy #NSF70! @NSF_GEO #SeeNSF
