I had hoped to include some reporting on the Ground Game petition campaign in this story, btw, but their comms team ignored my emails and when I reached out to one of the organizers, they only offered to talk on background when I needed something on the record.
With 25,000 signatures submitted, the Save Austin Now police staffing initiative will likely be on the Nov. 2 ballot. How much it would cost the city if passed is unclear, but $50 million feels the floor for estimates. The real cost could be higher. austinchronicle.com/news/202…
