Earlier this month, Uganda’s state-owned media outlets, New Vision and Bukedde, published reports suggesting that General Salim Saleh, President Yoweri Museveni’s brother, would chair negotiations between the government and incarcerated opposition leader Dr. Kizza Besigye, with the alleged objective of securing Besigye’s release.
However, those report were quickly challenged. People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) Secretary General Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda dismissed the claims, saying there was no evidence of such negotiations. Besigye’s wife, Winnie Byanyima, also denied that any negotiations were taking place.
So, what is really happening behind the scenes?
I got on a call with Eron Kiiza, one of Dr. Kizza Besigye’s lawyers, to establish the facts. Kiiza told me that no such negotiations are taking place. He explained that Besigye is seriously ill and unable to engage in discussions. More importantly, according to Kiiza, even if Besigye were in a position to talk, he would not negotiate or bargain with the Museveni government for his freedom.
Kiiza further argued that the government is now looking for a way to release Besigye following legal challenges to the treason case brought against him.
Is the reported negotiation process a fabrication, or is the government looking for a way out of a case that has become increasingly difficult to sustain?
Here is my conversation with Eron Kiiza, Dr. Kizza Besigye’s lawyer, as he explains what is happening and why, according to him, there are no negotiations over Besigye’s freedom.

Ever wondered why all born again pastors support this govt? It's because it allows them steal people in exchange to keeping them stupid and not ask for govt services delivery.
When someone gets sick instead of going to Mulago and find no medicine and ask the govt where her taxes go? She runs to the church, pastors curses the Satan and later she dies. When in reality the desease required medical attention. But govt doesn't get the blame because pastor said it's Satan.
When children are preparing for final exams pastor pray for them and even apply the anointing oil. If they fail, they don't blame the govt school poor standards, it's Satan who takes the blame.
Church member gets an accident, all church visits her at home, they start praying to curse Satan in the family because even his father died of an accident now it's a generational curse. No one mention about the poor state of the roads. Govt survives.
When will you fools wake up and realize that God helps those who help themselves? Miracles works through your efforts?! Ur fools

One Ugandan, paid with money collected from Ugandans in various forms to run this country, and equipped with guns, uniforms and other gear purchased with Ugandans’ money, is using those resources to abduct and torture Ugandans, then gloating about how he will kill more Ugandans, torture them and make them disappear.
Other Ugandans are saying, “Look, this Ugandan is a threat to us as Ugandans. He is destroying a fundamental part of our social contract, in which the people entrust a few individuals with the power to govern the country.” We must not forget that when this power is abused, Ugandans have the power to take it back. Fundamentally, power belongs to the people.
The question to answer is not whether I used a phone line registered in my mother’s name rather than mine. That is merely a decoy. The real question is whether some Ugandans are considered more Ugandan than others. Are we saying that when some people’s opinions do not prevail, they must be abducted, tortured or killed? If anyone agrees with that, I would consider them a cabbage. Only a cabbage could think that way and find pleasure in abducting, torturing and killing fellow Ugandans.
The past fortnight and a few days have been trying, but they have not broken me. Instead, they have strengthened my courage. I have drawn strength from your solidarity and support, which have encouraged me to believe that the future of this country is not as broken as we might imagine. There is still a flicker of hope, and if we find the right way to nurture it, our country will ultimately be set free.
I reiterate, without fear, that Uganda is not a monarchy. The people of Uganda deserve a say in the transition of their country, and fear must never be used as a tool to silence them or shut them up, especially at a time when their voices matter most.
I once again express my gratitude for your support. And I must say that, contrary to what they expected, **I will not go quiet. I will not keep silent. I will not flee into exile out of fear. I will stay until the very end.**
We are going to defend this country, as provided for under Article 3 of our Constitution. When the Constitution is abused and the rule of law gives way to the rule of an individual, we have a constitutional duty to resist and defend our Constitution and our country. In doing so, we shall not be breaking the law; we shall be exercising our constitutional mandate.
The struggle continues, and we shall prevail over fear. The demand remains: Arrest Muhoozi and free all political prisoners
Thank you, comrades. Thank you, fellow Ugandans.
The embarrassment that our party NUP is put through in order to join IPOD. Just imagine that our VP Jolly Tukamushaba was in the Torture House run by the boss of the proud NRM man on the left. And now she is supposed not to tak about it.
That's not Dialogue but Surrender
Is there new political will to embrace dialogue?
The leaders present agree on the essence of dialogue in achieving political goals. One point that has been emphasised is that the foundation for dialogue should be created before the dialogue itself takes place.

Oh, I forgot to update that money was found and Arnold went home🙏🏻 we shall overcome someday.
Mukose who was arrested for demanding his property from @PoliceUg has been granted cash bail of UGX 1M! When he was abducted in May and later produced and sent to prison, he was granted bail of 5M! The bogus charge was later dismissed but this money wasn’t refunded as the law provides. Now they are asking for 1M. These criminals working with the @PoliceUg and @JudiciaryUG will kill us if we don’t do something about them!! Because what is this!!! Anyway, Mukose needs our help to raise the 1M or he will spend another weekend in jail🙏🏻🙏🏻
I am happy to receive contributions for him on 0776462727.

Have you ever considered the irony of timing? For example, had despot Museveni been killed in 1987, he would almost certainly be remembered as Uganda’s Thomas Sankara. His early philosophy captured in writings like What is Africa’s Problem along with his then-staccatoed. speeches on restoring democracy, accountability, and the rule of law, would have earned him endless posthumous panegyrics. Martyrdom would have frozen him at his most promising, revolutionary moment.
And if Thomas Sankara had not been murdered, he might conceivably have become Burkina Faso’s Museveni—still in power this year, 2026, after four decades of gradual consolidation, constitutional adjustments, and the transformation of a once-radical project into a long personal rule. 😀
We know that history has the unfortunate habit of romanticizing those who exit early and scrutinizing those who stay too long.

Gen Gaddafi a NUP political prisoners shares a emotional story on how he got to know that he is a father.
Went to prison when am scared of one thing, not having a child. And my guys used to mock me that I have no kid. But one day a family came at prison and was called to meet them. They told me how my baby mama had sent them that I had a child of 7 years. I told them that was impossible till they described a girl and indeed I knew her.
She later came in the prison with a child looking just like me, when I asked her why she did not tell me she said she didn't know my names nor where I was from because I told her different names. Not untill I was on TV then she remembered the face and how the kid looked exactly like me.
Am now a dad of 7.
