I love how based Mark Carney is. He's practically a right-winger. My mind is constantly blown by the basedness.

In fact, New Jerseyans find the idea of Long Island somewhat claustrophobic and unsettling. In NJ, you’re always on the way to somewhere else — New York, the shore, Philly, the mountains. On Long Island you live in a long containment zone that discharges into the city every day.

People are too absolute when talking about US healthcare.
American healthcare is good if you have good insurance and bad if you manage to fall between the cracks and end up with no/poor insurance coverage, which happens very easily, especially for people 26-64 in red states.

My theory of obesity is that it is not driven by lack of discipline or dietary knowledge but by boredom and overeating fulfills a metabolic function. The metabolism speeds up when you eat and over-eating is a form of stimulation. The correct method to diet is thus to increase stimulation, danger, and excitement.

A Trump rally is really just him doing a 3 hour long stand-up comedy routine, and "Canada will be the 51st State" is one of his bits. It's like Seinfeld and the 'get candy get candy get candy' Halloween joke.

What's more, the War of 1812 acted as something of a catalyst for Canadian norms, attitudes, and aesthetics. For example, it was only as a result of the war that the neo-Gothic architecture, which is in many ways *the* quintessential Canadian architectural style, was first employed by designers. These new farmhouses, factories, and civic buildings, many of which still dot the Southern Ontario landscape to this day, were built to replace those structures lost during the American raids. With a new sense of severity and romantic nationalism, it reflected a people who had been through devastation and survived, at a time when the injustices brought upon the Loyalists was still fresh in the cultural memory. It is a style of dark transcendence forged in blood-red brick and arches as sharp as a bayonet.

Incredible.

Culture is when you speak a minority language, and the more fringe it is the more culture you have. Do you speak the majority language in your country? Sorry, no culture for you.
