I draw on every line of Auburn's NCAA financial reports, FY2017–FY2025, and the same lines for every other public SEC school. 🧵

Nine Years of Auburn Football and Men's Basketball Spending

Auburn's football budget slipped from 3rd among public SEC schools to 9th since FY17. Men's basketball moved the other way, and by FY25 it outranked football in the conference on 6 of 8 measures.

Update: minutes after this went up, the NCAA sued DeWine in federal court. Baker also told members the Ohio Supreme Court's stay did not reinstate the players' injunction, and that schools reading it otherwise "bear the risk of that interpretation." Update box is at the top of the piece.

1/ Ohio's governor told his colleges to stop enforcing the NCAA's class-of-2022 rule. As law, it's thin. A day later, Ohio's Supreme Court froze the appeals ruling against two dozen players to ask what the order means. They're eligible again, for now. Link to story in reply...
