There's a good chance Nigeria will receive the additional T129 ATAK attack helicopters and AKSUNGUR UAVs from Turkey before the AH-1Z Viper attack helicopters are delivered by the U.S. It took just 16 months for Nigeria to receive the first batch of T129 ATAKS from Turkey when the first contract was signed in July 2022. Every since the Mi-35Ms were grounded, just six T-129 ATAK helicopters have carried the burden of sustaining NAF attack helicopter operations. If the AH-1Z Vipers are available by the time the additional T129 ATAKs arrive, Nigeria will field a combined fleet of 24 of some of the world's most capable attack helicopters. This means improved operational tempo and more persistent air support for ground troops across multiple theatres.
The Nigerian Air Force is on the verge of a significant expansion with a new wave of strategic acquisitions. The service is expecting delivery of 12 AKSUNGUR armed UAVs, two CH-4D armed UAVs, and six additional T129 ATAK attack helicopters. This will double Nigeria's T129 ATAK fleet will double to 12 aircraft. The incoming AKSUNGURs and CH-4Ds will complement the Nigerian Air Force's existing fleet of Chinese made Wing Loong II and CH-4 armed drones. With these additions, Nigeria will operate one of the largest and most modern fleets of armed unmanned combat aerial vehicles in Africa.

No problem my own question is simple what are policies or plans for the LGAs ? We want development at the grassroots and so far projects have been ongoing at that level with some states, so what’s his own plan because he did not conduct any LGA election in 8 years?

The Nigerian interior ministry has to start revoking passports of those abroad who denigrate the country unprovoked. You can’t set up a camera, call the country and its passport useless then want to enjoy privileges no matter how small. It is not free speech, it is terrorism!

History is unfolding in Lagos, as the inaugural Africa International Defence Exhibition (AFRIDEX 2026) officially opens its doors. Co-hosted by the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) and global trade giant dmg events, under the official patronage of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, this landmark event marks the largest defense and security gathering ever witnessed on the continent. By bringing together over 30,000 participants, 500+ international exhibiting companies, and official delegations from more than 100 countries, AFRIDEX has instantly established itself as the premier multi-domain defense platform in Africa. For decades, African nations have primarily been consumers of foreign defense technology, but AFRIDEX 2026 is designed to fundamentally change that paradigm. Under the leadership of DICON's Director-General, Major General Babatunde Ibrahim Alaya, Nigeria is actively leveraging new regulatory frameworks to move past basic procurement and foreign dependencies. The core focus has shifted directly toward sustainable technology transfer, joint ventures, and the rapid expansion of an indigenous defense industrial complex capable of manufacturing state-of-the-art equipment locally. The scale of the exhibition floor reflects the evolving nature of modern warfare, with active technology integrations across five distinct domains: Land, Maritime, Air, Space, and Cyber. Global defense primes are showcasing their latest solutions alongside top-tier indigenous manufacturers like Proforce and Buckler Land Systems. This convergence proves that African defense engineering is rapidly maturing, providing local armed forces with tailored tactical armored vehicles and specialized unmanned systems built specifically for regional operational environments. Beyond the hardware displays, the event emphasizes strategic regional integration and high-level defense diplomacy. The inclusion of the Strategic Defence and Security Summit alongside the Ministers of Defence in Africa Summit (MODIAS) serves as a vital forum for Chiefs of Staff and intelligence heads to synchronize security protocols. These summits are driving critical dialogues on multi-national interoperability, tactical electronic warfare, and unified border security strategies to combat asymmetrical threats across the continent. Ultimately, AFRIDEX 2026 is a definitive declaration that Nigeria and the wider African continent are ready to achieve sovereign defense autonomy. It moves Africa from a position of security reliance to one of industrial partnership, shared innovation, and self-reliance. This historic debut is not just a showcase of military might, but a bold blueprint for how Africa will secure its own borders and protect its own future.

The economic value here is predictability. A manufacturer who can trust tomorrow’s power supply can accept larger orders, schedule extra shifts and give customers firm delivery dates. Reliability can turn installed machinery into actual production. The technical audit is especially encouraging: identifying whether a fault lies in a relay, conductor or tower helps direct investment to the equipment that needs attention. As these proposed grids move through procurement, their greatest dividend could be businesses gaining the confidence to expand—and employ more Nigerians.
