Wow, China is giving 15 year grants that double every 5 years and all you have to do is "show physical presence in the lab." Meanwhile ... well we've all seen what is happening to our science funding here in the US. Anyway, for this program it looks like 9 out of 44 selected this year are from outside of China. Basically the old system overwhelmingly went to a few senior researchers so now they're like ok, we are going to take our larger grant system and give it mostly to projects led by folks under 45 (now 75%). Instead of funding FUD to lobby the government, I hope our billionaires can fund more actual research, please, if the government can't do it.
