I interviewed the Indigenous creators Ahnahktsipiitaa (Colin Van Loon) & James Monkman about the cinematic VR piece THIS IS NOT A CEREMONY, which visually embeds notions of relationality & encourages the practice of bearing witness to Indigenous trauma.

Guy Maddin, Seances. This film will disappear Friday, 17. Sept. at the Berlin Art Week.
A one time only screening at the @BerlinArtWeek Directors Lounge at the Schokoladen. Thanks to @thenfb. directorslounge.net/director…

ALT Guy Maddin's Seances will be screened during the art (not art) Directors Lounge party at the Schokoladen. Friday, 17. Sept. Seances is a project by filmmaker and installation artist Guy Maddin, co-created by brothers Evan and Galen Johnson, that combines Maddin’s reenactments of lost films with an algorithm that dynamically assembles these films into configurations that can never be repeated. Each film exists only in the moment moment it is shown, with no way to pause, delete, or share it. The audience has only one chance to see this film before it disappears. By special arrangement with the National Film Board of Canada.
