Maintenance Monday, grooming the indoor practice facility, and painting the practice football fields.
Gameday! The blackout field is ready to go! Been a crazy week battling the elements. Clear coat went down Monday, black end zones Tuesday, logo Wednesday, then we covered the field to protect the paint. End product is a master piece! #GBR 🏴☠️
It’s all about playability. Providing a safe and aesthetically pleasing playing surface is our number one goal. We have three key instruments that allow us to do so. A moisture probe, shear strength tester, and Clegg hammer. Testing for stability, surface hardness, and moisture.
Our Tahoma 31 Bermudagrass overseeded with ryegrass football practice fields are loving this weather! We do both slit seed and broadcast spread applications at a rate of 10lbs per 1,000 sq. ft. We mow daily at 3/4 an inch and usually collect the clippings.
Quick overview of what we manage here at Nebraska Athletics. 12 acres of natural grass playing surfaces, 7 acres of synthetic turf playing surfaces, and another 30 acres of landscaping, native areas, and hard surfaces.
