"Unfortunately, my class size and paid family medical leave bills were vetoed by a governor who cares more about corporate profits than working Nevadans. This is the same governor who tried to bankrupt our state by giving away nearly $2B in public money to Hollywood studios..."

"CCEA should have asked teachers who they support for Governor before spending millions of member dollars to make it look like teachers are lining up behind Lombardo. This poll confirms what we already know. Most teachers don’t support Lombardo, and their union shouldn’t either."

From gas and groceries to housing and health care, nearly everything costs more. And for families with school-aged children, the financial squeeze doesn't end with everyday expenses. School-related costs add another burden, with families potentially paying nearly $4,000 more.
NEW: @AaronDFordNV is calling on Trump to refund Nevadans for the extra $2,000 they’ve paid in gas prices because of his Iran War – and inviting @JoeLombardoNV to join him.
Avg gas price in Nevada: $5.40/gal
Avg diesel price: $6.86/gal, the highest EVER

There's no widespread teacher support for Joe Lombardo. Why would there be? 4 years of low rankings, the nation's largest class sizes, vetoes of school meals, summer school, and class size relief, and a $2 per-pupil increase that's left districts cutting staff and services.

Over the last 4 years, whether it's stadiums for John Fisher, data center abatements, or studios for Hollywood, Joe Lombardo has been focused on giving away our public money.
It's no wonder the “education governor” gets a failing grade from Nevada educators.
The “education governor” should have a better report card.
Behind every headline: students losing support and opportunities, positions cut, classrooms doing more with less.
Make your plan to #vote for leaders who will fund our schools, feed our kids, and respect our educators.

If you haven’t voted early yet, there’s still plenty of time to make a plan!
NSEA listened to our members, considered the candidates' records on public education, and endorsed @AaronDFordNV for governor.

Every veto is a missed opportunity for a student.
Every vacant position means more work for an already stretched educator.
Every year we wait is another year our students don’t get back.
Make a plan. Vote Aaron Ford.

Early voting begins tomorrow (10/17)! NSEA proudly endorses @AaronDFordNV for Governor because our students deserve a real champion for public education.
Educators know the difference between a promise and a record, and our students cannot afford 4 more years of Joe Lombardo.

Inflation is not an education funding plan, Governor.
Nevada’s schools are already billions behind. Waiting for rising prices and economic growth to generate more tax revenue won’t close that gap.
We need new revenue, not just more of the same.

Vetoing school meals for students a day after giving $380 Million in public money to John Fisher for a stadium?
Joe Lombardo gets a big F from Nevada educators.

"Sky-high fuel prices will cost the CCSD millions of dollars more to operate its bus fleet this year." The district said it expects to spend an additional $2.9 million on fuel this school year, which could bring this year’s total annual fuel costs up to $18 million."

And here we see the problem with Joe Lombardo's $2 increase in per-pupil funding.
Fuel costs are impacting educators and our districts. CCSD will spend millions more getting kids to school.
And Lombardo's education budget (a de facto cut) leaves districts to absorb the hit.
Is the Iran war driving up Nevada gas prices?

And that was the session with billions in new money coming out of COVID. Last session, Lombardo showed up with a budget that would have cut per-pupil funding. When we pushed back on that, they redrafted the budget to come up with a $2 increase. nsea-nv.org/resource-library…

That’s why Lombardo also introduced AB459 that session— to change the law to allow for this lower level of support for K-12 education. @NSEAOnline opposed this bill and pushed the legislature to do better. nsea-nv.org/resource-library…

Lombardo claims his top education accomplishment was the 2023 funding bill. Ironically, he introduced a budget that was actually lower than required by statute. #nvleg

Perhaps before Joe Lombardo promises schools billions from data centers over the next 30 years, he could explain why he couldn't even fund schools at a level that kept pace with inflation over the last two...🤔
"That $2 billion should have been the beginning of the work, not the end of it," said NSEA President Dawn Etcheverry.
They also point out that the per-pupil funding increase was minimal the following session at $72 per student. #SeriouslyPassThePlan

Instead, Lombardo has been looking at data centers as a possible source for additional tax revenue...
