We are thrilled to release NEAR's first ever #AnnualReport for 2025: near.ngo/resources/2025-near…
Sunday, #NRG Focal Points & reps from 10+ countries prepped ahead of the #GrandBargain Annual Meeting.
The purpose? To share their key learnings from the year, prepare joint messages for the Annual Meeting, and look ahead to their future role in discussion with NRG Champions.
The proposed future Grand Bargain framework sets out a shift for NRGs that @NEAR_Network celebrates: a formal link between country-level evidence and dialogue and global decision-making, and a role for NRGs on the Facilitation Group.
You can read NEAR's Statement here, in English, French and Spanish: near.ngo/resources/near-stat…

At our latest event, Hibak Kalfan (@near_network) described just how difficult it is for civil-society organizations to work with the UN to deliver positive outcomes at the country level. #PSEvents #UNGA bit.ly/4z1DECf
#UNGA81, Hibak Kalfan, @NEAR_Network's ED, joined a high-level discussion on "The Humanitarian Reset and Responsible Transitions," co-hosted by @KSRelief_EN, the EU, the UK's FCDO, the United Nations OCHA and UNDP.

Nice to catch up with Hibak Kalfan of @NEAR_Network. Our conversation brought a central issue: putting more power and resources in the hands of local responders and communities.
Local leadership needs to remain at the centre of humanitarian action. Let's keep moving this forward.

Thanks to @NEAR_Network members who joined the #Townhall, full of discussions on our next strategic plan, #SouthToSouthSolidarity, #locallyled financing and influencing for the changes we need to put #localleaders and their communities at the centre of #humanitarianaction.

We had the pleasure of welcoming @AliceObrecht , Senior Research Advisor @NEAR_Network , to our office. Our conversation focused on strengthening humanitarian aid through locally led action, the vital role of #CSOs in advancing the #AU’s peace and security agenda, and how cooperation among Global South actors can further strengthen locally led and inclusive humanitarian action. We also shared insights across our areas of work.
Far from #ECOSOC, NEAR is also at @EAPhilanthropy in #AddisAbaba, Ethiopia. The crowd is different, but our message is the same: any ecosystem that claims to support communities in crisis must put them at the centre of decision making while resourcing them with trust. #10thEAPC
NEAR is in NY for #ECOSOC HAS.
We are entering this week w/ clarity & optimism.
Clarity because local organisations face systems that were not designed around their leadership. Optimism because, despite those odds, they are already building more #locallyledecosystems.

@NEAR_Network policy brief highlights evidence from 63 locally led pooled funds across the Global South demonstrating that local actors r already managing substantial resources, providing capacity strengthening, & supporting communityled change #globalsouthleadership #NEARat10
Today we publish:
1. A database of 63 locally-led pooled funds – searchable, filterable, and free to use. LINK: near.ngo/global-south-locall…
2. A policy brief that draws on the mapping . LINK: near.ngo/resources/locally-l…
The infrastructure for a different approach to aid financing already exists. The question is whether funders will engage with it seriously, on its own terms.
