The Northern Childrens Book Festival has been running for forty-two years, which is an extraordinarily impressive pedigree. Every year, the fortnight-long festival brings writers and illustrators to schools and libraries in the North-East
Last day of a fantastic book festival in the region. Excited to have @akwindram @gateslibraries @ForumBooks today!
Week 2, day 5. Final day. What a festival it’s been 🎉 Not over yet, @paulcooksonpoet has his 5th day and @akwindram rounding off what has been an outstanding programme with some of the finest writers and illustrators for children.
Thank you @paulcooksonpoet You always capture the spirit of the festival. We’ve kept going through funding shortages, no funding, a pandemic, cuts to library services. We’ll keep going another 42 years because we truly believe this festival is like no other.

My last day on the Northern Children's Book Festival, and it's been a blast. Thanks to all the kids, teachers, librarians and helpers – I had some wonderfully silly #SpacePirateBears fun!
…AND I found another throne, at Appletree Gardens! 4/4!

What do you call two @NosyCrow authors and a knitted osprey called Monty at the Northern Children's Book Festival? Great to bump into the super talented @alastair_ch between school visits up here in snowy Newcastle! @NCBFest @NosyCrow @rupertcrew
