Reporter: "I'm with ABC News."
Trump: "Fake newsโฆAs far as this gentleman is concerned, he's done a phenomenal job. You're mentioning someone who was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen."

Have you noticed a new line of butter appearing on Woolworths shelves lately? Donโt be fooled, itโs not Australian. Woolworths has started stocking American-made butter, right alongside local brands.
To make matters worse, itโs wrapped in green and gold packaging, designed to look Australian. Itโs a slap in the face to our hardworking dairy farmers who produce some of the best butter in the world. Instead, this imported product, pale, bland, and far from our standards, is being dressed up to mislead shoppers.
This kind of marketing doesnโt just undermine Australian dairy, it deceives consumers and cheapens our local industry. Australians deserve honesty on our supermarket shelves.
Weโre calling on Woolworths to stop misleading customers and undercutting Australian farmers. Shoppers should be able to make informed choices, not be tricked by imported products disguised in Aussie colours. Support local. Support Australian dairy.

Happy 29th birthday to #HongKong #PoliticalPrisoner Joshua Wong. In prison since Dec 2020, projected to be released Jan 2027, but has been charged with yet another "national security" crime because the regime wants to keep him in prison forever. A true HK hero.

I have no informed view on the worth of the specific pieces of land.
But any reduction in the national 'capital stock' shouldn't just be spent on current-year spending.
It should be retained, in one form or another, as part of our 'common wealth'.

This is an iron lung for polio victims.
Remember these?
Me neither. It's now in a museum..where it should stay.
Why?
Because vaccines work

The trial of Hong Kong democracy activist Anna Kwokโs father began today.
Heโs accused of โhandling assets of an absconderโโa charge transparently designed to punish Anna, who lives abroad and has a bounty on her head from Hong Kongโs National Security Police for her advocacy work.
The prosecution's agreed facts in court make clear how hollow the case is. In 1999, Annaโs father bought her a small life insurance policyโworth just US$11,000 when it expired in 2020. The prosecutionโs own witness, the insurance agent that Mr. Kwok continued paying for the policy himself and that Anna never signed or paid anything. No allegation has been made that Mr. Kwok intended to provide these funds to Anna, or that he has ever financially supported Anna after her arrest warrant.
The insurance agent, who was just doing his job, was interrogated for 14 hours by the National Security Department and threatened with prosecution if he didn't testify.
This is what โrule of lawโ looks like in Hong Kong today: a father dragged into court for buying life insurance for his daughter 25 years ago, all to intimidate a democracy activist across the world into silence.
Western companies still operating in Hong Kong should also take note of what was done to this insurance agent: by operating in a city run by thugs, you are putting your employees in danger of interrogation and threats of arrest for simply doing their jobs.

More than 2 years after the NACC was established, it hasnโt held a single public hearing. Now we learn the PM pushed to make it harder to hold them.
Public hearings are vital to building trust - the Govt should be making them easier, not harder.

Australia has sacrificed everything on the altar of property
The family unit, wealth, society, culture, the economy, the environment.. permanently altering what Australia is.
The wreck from when the bubble pops will be felt for generations.
Australia has screwed its housing market more than any other developed nation. We have sacrificed future generations just to maximise the profits that can be squeezed out of housing. Freaking attrocious

Itโs amazing how many people in their 50s-60s I come across who paid off their home 10-20 years ago, raised 2-3 kids and have an investment or holiday home on a single average (or below average) income โ such as the painter I chatted to today who earns about 80k/year at age 57.
Contrast that with kids today entering the workforce with a 50k student debt whoโll work into their 70s and likely never own a home or feel financially stable enough to have kids with above-average dual incomes.
And the kicker after decades of utter governmental failure? It's still getting worse - much worse.

If an equivalent number of jobs were lost in small businesses around the country, there'd be no bailout.
Why?
Because the politics would be different.
This is an entirely politically selfish decision.
And using our money.

As a former senior Lib staffer, itโs ridiculous the Coalition feels need to even debate climate policy now. Itโs massively self-indulgent and self-important, and thereby completely out of synch with community expectations. When will they choose to leave the wilderness of hubris?

I've been saying essentially the same thing for yonks.
He's being eminently sensible, but the major parties are sticking their heads in the sand.

A reminder, ahead of the GDP numbers out this week.
The size of the economy and its growth are almost irrelevant.
*GDP per Capita*, and its distribution, are all individuals should care about.
Aggregate GDP is just an ego trip.
