We’re making a stand in Newport. Planning is out of control and residents are suffering as a result. Join our campaign today: Homes not HMOs.

Remembering Ed Townsend today, who died six years ago. We're out campaigning for a good result, doing what he would do best - leafletting, door-knocking, getting us out working. His family and friends may be subdued today, but we'll still be out. Thanks for the best wishes today.
Every so often in politics there is something that makes you laugh so much at the sheer audacity.
The man who wants to one day be Prime Minister cannot behave like this. He has a responsibility to be open, honest and transparent with the public. #Beergate
Is this the most festooned Lib Dem candidate house? Our Maindee candidate, Nurul, is definitely making it clear who he’s standing for! #NewportNeedsChange
It's the final Saturday in the campaign. In Newport it's time for a change. Over fifty years of Labour in charge, and a city that feels on its last legs. We need a new vision that isn't stuck in the past.
#NewportNeedsChange
Better scrutiny means better decisions, means a better city. We want more questions and challenge to our leaders, and we want fair elections where votes matter in our city. No more hiding from transparency. #NewportNeedsChange
The growth of inappropriate, overcrowded, unsupported large-scale HMOs in Newport is a problem. Our planning system doesn't work, but locally there's things we can do that aren't being done.
Yes, we need housing. But not like this. On May 5th, vote Lib Dem.
#NewportNeedsChange
Tory, Labour. Across Wales, it doesn't matter. Both take their voters for granted. In local elections, it is always better to vote for a party that has to work, tooth and nail, leaflet by leaflet, door by door, for your vote.
It keeps us on our toes. It keeps us listening.
Crime and anti-social behaviour is becoming more of a problem in Newport. We have clear ideas about how to start tackling it. We need to work more with local communities and restore trust.

It's one of the biggest issues facing our city. It impacts on so much. Prosperity - will business invest in a dirty city? Happiness - do neighbourhoods feel cared for when rubbish piles up? And more.
We need action on it ASAP after the election. #NewportNeedsChange
Labour voters trusting us with their local votes this year. Never seen this level of sadness from their supporters. Same with Conservative voters. Fed up of Boris and his party failing to fess up and take the heat.
Well, there's another choice in Newport.
#NewportNeedsChange
As a party we believe that we should be open to challenge and debate - so in that light, we wanted to welcome @ndwebb video that looks at our manifesto.
He's also produced videos looking at Labour and Tory manifestos. Some good challenges from him here.

They do say Prime Ministers are always at their most vulnerable to domestic politicking when they’re abroad.
Sometimes it works to run away and escape.
Other times it doesn’t…
"If it turned out the building you preside over... attracted more fixed penalty notices than any location or event in the history of lockdown - might that be a cause for resignation?"
That was @GaryGibbonC4's question to Boris Johnson over lockdown parties at No 10.
We’ve published our manifesto.
It’s focused on what you care about - waste and rubbish, crime, housing quality and the city centre.
We show our liberal values and ideas to empower people, trust communities, and break down barriers.

We welcomed @LaylaMoran and @DoddsJane this afternoon. We’ve loved the growing energy and enthusiasm of our team. Today marks a big moment for us, and shows that our local party is growing in numbers, energy and ideas. And not a moment too soon, because #NewportNeedsChange
Figures from @markpack make things very interesting... shows that where Lib Dems are working, we can really challenge the Big Two stranglehold on politics. Fascinating stuff. People waking up to the idea that we don't need to stick with the same choices. #NewportNeedsChange
We're working hard in the areas above and others across the city, to make sure we do even better. Because there's so much at stake in this election, and we've got a powerful vision for the type of city we could and should be. We won't leave anything to chance. #NewportNeedsChange
