I had the pleasure of attending @NADAUpdate's annual conference yesterday to announce & officially sign their new Registered Apprenticeship program for automotive technician specialists.
We had a great conversation about how @USDOL is working with the private sector to expand stable, well-paying career pathways through new apprenticeship programs across the country.
We're well on our way to reaching President Trump's goal of one million active apprentices!

Speaking with @NADAUpdate President Mike Stanton at the @WashAutoShow, NHTSA Administrator Jonathan Morrison warned drivers not to abuse their vehicles’ self-driving features:
“I want to be loud and clear: There’s a very major difference between an advanced driver assistance system and an automated driving system. The system you can buy in your vehicle today with very rare exception is a driver assistance system.
“If you have an extra cocktail or two and you get behind the wheel and put it in ‘hands free’ mode, you're a drunk driver. I want you to be pulled over, I want you to be removed from the road.”

Patrick Manzi, PhD, Chief Economist at National Automobile Dealers Association (@NADAUpdate), breaks down the key forces shaping retail auto in 2025—and what dealers should expect heading into the second half of the year.
Highlights:
• SAAR topped 17M in both March & April—best since 2021
• Tariff fears sparked a pull-ahead buying wave
• Used vehicle prices are climbing fast, with supply near decade lows
• Leasing is down (from 30% to 15%), tightening used inventory even more
• Employment at franchised dealerships is back to pre-pandemic levels (1.1MM employees nationwide)
Manzi’s full-year SAAR forecast? 15.3 to 15.4M units—tempered by the recent sales surge and looming tariff uncertainty.
