This morning, I officially opened the three-day training for members of the County Anti-Corruption Civilian Oversight Committees (CACCOCs) from all 47 counties at the Co-operative University of Kenya.
CACCOCs play a vital role in strengthening public integrity at the grassroots; promoting civic awareness, monitoring public projects, and conducting social audits. This training will equip them with enhanced skills to effectively oversee projects in the counties, reinforce accountability, and empower communities to address corruption. I urged them to and fully commit to the training to sharpen their skills and be effective in combating corruption at the grassroots, Their role compliments the broader agenda of the government to choke out the hideouts of corruption.
Principal Secretary, Sen. @JudithPareno (Justice, Human Rights and Constitutional Affairs, Office of the Attorney General), Nerys Cross Smith, representing the British High Commission in Nairobi and Prof. Kamau Ngamau, VC of the Co-operative University, were present among other leaders and citizens.

Today, Kenya joins other countries in commemorating this year’s International Anti-Corruption Day. This day is annually marked to take stock of the progress made in the fight against corruption, challenges encountered, lessons learnt and opportunities for reform.
This year’s theme, “Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity,” underscores the vital role of young people in promoting integrity and combating corruption.
The event, to be held at Strathmore University, brings together representatives of key stakeholders from the public, private, civil society and faith sectors to a platform for national reflection on Kenya’s anti-corruption journey under the commemoration theme.
