NABE Advocacy in Action! 📣 NABE President Dr. Margarita Machado shares an important update from Washington, D.C. on the English Learner Education Package, recently introduced by Congresswoman Adelita Grijalva. This package includes three bills designed to strengthen support for English Learners, multilingual families, and the educators who serve them: 📘 Reaching English Learners Act (H.R. 10436) — invests in preparing and strengthening the pipeline of qualified educators serving English Learners. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 FLUENT Act (H.R. 10437) — expands English-language and literacy support for English Learners and their families. 🌎 SYLLABLE Act (H.R. 10438) — supports high-quality dual-language immersion programs in low-income communities. NABE is working alongside national partners, including AFT, ALAS, UnidosUS, JNCL-NCLIS, and the National Education Association, to advocate for policies that support our nation’s multilingual learners and educators. The Reaching English Learners Act materials specifically identify NABE, AFT, UnidosUS, JNCL-NCLIS, and NEA among organizations supporting the legislation.
