Today is Black Women’s #EqualPay Day - meaning Black women had to work all of 2019 and this far into today to earn what white men earned LAST YEAR.
Stemming from under representation, discrimination, lack of managerial/executive support for growth, various levels of micro-aggressions, and so much more at the workplace - we must advocate for Black women to earn #equalpay and to work in a safe space.
While we celebrate that this is the first week, in a 20 week span, that new UI claims were under 1 million, we must also focus on the restoration of job and health security across the US.

Initial claims were 963,000 for the week ending 8/8 (-228,000).
Insured unemployment was 15,486,000 for the week ending 8/1 (-604,000).
