As a hockey mom, I find it absolutely disgusting that young Russian hockey players are being punished for the actions of their country’s leader.
These young men didn’t start a war. They’re hockey players who have dedicated years of their lives to a sport they love.
And let’s not forget their families.
The countless hours at the rink. The early mornings, the endless travel, the financial sacrifices, and the years spent supporting their sons’ dreams of going as far as they possibly can in hockey.
As a hockey mom, I know firsthand what families give up to get their children to this level.
And now, because of politics, those dreams and opportunities are being taken away.
Mark Carney, these young men are not responsible for Vladimir Putin’s decisions.
Since when did we decide that punishing young athletes for the actions of their government was acceptable?
Hockey should bring people together, not divide them.

The attackers targeted cooling systems used to store blood plasma. Fortunately, the supplies were preserved and none of the blood products were damaged.
At the same time, overnight on November 1, hackers attacked supermarket refrigeration systems in eight European countries. The attackers remotely raised temperatures, forcing stores to throw away large quantities of food. Among the affected chains were Carrefour, Delhaize, ICA and Coop.
Experts believe the hackers exploited basic security weaknesses: default passwords and systems left accessible over the internet.
