The Riemann hypothesis, one of the most important unsolved problems in maths today (unless AI, or a mathematician, sorts it before the lecture), was proposed only briefly by Bernard Riemann in his 8-page paper of 1859. David Rowe tells the story.

In 1924, Indian physicist Satyendra Nath Bose wrote a groundbreaking paper on quantum physics.
A British journal did not publish it.
So he sent it directly to Albert Einstein.
Einstein recognized its importance, translated it into German himself, and arranged its publication.
The work gave birth to Bose–Einstein statistics.
Today, an entire class of particles is named after Bose: bosons.
