Andy Burnham's answer to soaring fuel prices is to put petrol prices on Google Maps. From today, drivers can compare nearby stations before they fill up. The Prime Minister calls it "a practical way to help". Drivers don't need an app to tell them fuel is expensive. They need Labour to scrap its planned fuel duty rise and cut the tax on every litre. This is pathetically weak leadership.

Google Maps is introducing fuel prices across the UK, helping drivers compare petrol and diesel costs when searching for nearby forecourts. The feature uses data from the government’s Fuel Finder scheme, although experts have raised concerns about how accurate and up-to-date some of the prices are. With diesel recently reaching £2 a litre, the update could help motorists save money by finding cheaper fuel.

Take the PM's own seat, where two forecourts 0.6 miles apart are 10p a litre apart - this gap adds up 👇 We know voters want politicians who do stuff. This is stuff. It will sit nicely alongside bigger structural reform.

This is unbelievable. The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom has offered his solution to rising petrol and gas prices by giving advice to use Google maps to find the cheapest petrol stations. Cutting fuel duty might be a bit more helpful to millions of cash strapped motorists.
