1/ I caught up with a friend from high school this weekend. She was in town for her 20th Stanford reunion. She's extremely accomplished and used to be an executive at a big, well-known company, but she left to join a small startup, and it shut down. Read on >>

I saw someone say that what’s happening in France is a psyop to get americas to riot so they can bring out martial law before midterms and it’s such an American thing to assume everything is about us 😂 god forbid the French stand up for the own rights in their own country.

"Neko was fundamentally a moonshot company"
@HjalmarNilsonne, CEO of @Neko Health, has big goals for his startup. He hopes to "shift the entire healthcare system, the world's biggest industry, from reactive to proactive."
Making changes that big require hiring exceptionally talented people that are in it for the love of the game not the fame.
"If you wanna join the hot new startup, if you wanna brag to your friend…you can't do it because we don't have a website. We don't have a name. Nobody knows we exist. So that really filters out folks who actually want to be on a moonshot, who are in it for the long haul."

Nahh I would bet they’re only doing this so kids from “other” neighborhoods don’t have incentive to come to yours to get full-size candy
HOAs are never run by good people. Always assume the worst motive behind any policy like this 😂
My HOA sent me a letter requesting that I stop handing out full-size candy bars for Halloween this year.
-Fun-size bars are usually 15–25¢ each.
-Full-size are around 75¢–$1.
Most people give out 2–3 fun-size anyway, so the real difference is often only a few cents per kid.
Am I crazy, or is it weird for an HOA to police this?

Oh yeah?
If that's what frat houses are for, close them all entirely, immediately.

This is the way 👏
“Our check sizes will be between $ 100K and $3 M of our own money. We will invest in any stage, any sector/industry, and any time horizon. We don’t need to lead rounds, take board seats, or meet ownership targets.”
News: We’re moving NFX to self-funded. Taking it private. No more external LP’s after fund IV. The four GP’s stay intact. 8 more big seed investments to make in Fund IV, so hit us up. After that, we'll be doing $100K - $3M investments w/ our own money. Thanks to @homebrew who led the way! @NFX @GigiLevy @peteflint @omri_drory

What would you want to know before a building that uses as much electricity as every home in Norwalk moved in down the road?
Who pays for the power? What happens to your electric bill? Who is watching what goes on inside?
No new data centers!

What kind of parent thinks to herself “We have the means and knowledge to give our kid a better education, but we will voluntarily give her worse than what we had.”
Of course her daughter was pissed!

Having invested in early stage startups for 16 years, one thing I've seen up close is that the industry tends to be cyclical but people tend to act in each cycle like it's the new norm. It's a decent chance this time is different, but we should recognize that would be a first.
