Gotta be a slow day for whoever gets passed the first sentence of the new definition of #museum. It captures everything except the attention of audiences @IcomOfficiel icom.museum/en/news/icom-app…
The cultural sector must transform itself to connect with people where they are.
There's reason innovation comes from the outside. How can arts pros who have come up in a system that hasn't seen any meaningful innovation ever be expected to go against everything they know?!
Given the current societal context this is probably one of the most important data points for museums
ICYMI: Who do you TRUST to tell the TRUTH? Most trusted professions:
Nurses: 94%
Librarians: 93%
Doctors: 91%
Teachers: 86%
Museum Curators: 86%

Guess I’ll have to subscribe to know the answer but I think I have a pretty good idea of what it is…

Museums deserve credit for the work they‘ve done since COVID, but as long as reactivity outweighs proactivity then true industry-wide innovation will remain elusive.
Anticipating change and acting on it isn’t courageous. It’s smart leadership.
71 years ago the curator of a Brazilian #museum understood that to resonate with young audiences museums need to offer an EXPERIENCE 😎
💪 Many individual museums have since made that happen
🔭 The #cultural sector as a whole isn't there yet

"The Viennese are very open-minded"
Question now is will they pay $4.99 a month for "painted nudes and risqué statues"...

More than curators, more than collections, more than programming, museums are an experience
#art #museum #curator #exhibition #culture #experience #marketing #muzing
Imagine a #museum #marketing campaign around the *experience* instead of simply ‘exhibit title, image, start/end dates, repeat’ 🤔
Ex/ “The Georgia and George experience! Meet a friend at the @CentrePompidou for the Georgia O’Keeffe #exhibit then grab a table at the George.”
Muzing is as Muzing does 😎
What is Muzing?
A #cultural network for audiences to share, discover and connect around the arts
Why are we building #Muzing?
Because #art is the path of least resistance between the anxious and lonely self and the #authentic and #optimistic self
Passion is contagious. Happy and passionate employees will over time do more for museums than all those marketing budgets combined.

Museum workers lost jobs and income during the pandemic. Now there's an upsurge in unionizing at several institutions trib.al/kXsbTfl
Museums must realize a rising tide lifts all boats to regain their place in the #social agenda 🚤
Promoting #museum programming is crucial and local. Promoting the museum *experience* is transformative and universal.

Commuting is about to get a little less painful. Here's the interior of a train entirely covered in #art 💪
