Capt Ibrahim Traorรฉ.
Burkina Faso just opened its first gold refinery.
RAFFINOR-BF. Ouagadougou. Inaugurated yesterday by Ibrahim Traorรฉ.
Cost: ~$19m.
Capacity: 164 tonnes a year, expandable to 515.
Purity target: 99.99%.
Jobs: ~100 direct, thousands indirect.
Goal: stop shipping raw gold out and refine it at home.
A landlocked Sahel state under a 30 something years old captain built a refinery so the gold stays in the country.
Meanwhile Tinubuโs Nigeria still lectures Africa about โvalue additionโ while crude leaves the ports and refined products come back as imports.
One country is trying to keep the chain.
The other keeps selling the raw barrel and buying the finished product.

Twice in recent weeks, Obafemi Hamzat and the APC have given us insight into how they see you.
In August: can't afford rent? Move back in with your parents.
This week: Lagos traffic is "not a problem, it's just a lifestyle."
Daily soul-crushing traffic is not a lifestyle. It is governance failure.
Vast numbers of Lagosians leave home before 5am and get back after their children are asleep. They lose hours of work, money on fuel and fares, time, health and wellbeing they will never get back. That is a cost to every household and every business in this state.
Housing, public transportation and traffic are closely related problems. You cannot fix one without planning for the others. But the first step to fixing them is to acknowledge them.
This government has ignored the pains of Lagosians for years. This is just the latest example. Lagos needs a government that acknowledges problems and uses its resources to solve them, not one that celebrates them.
Inefficiency is not culture, itโs failure

โAnyone who has crossed Third Mainland Bridge at 6 p.m. knows that Lagos traffic is not a problem; it is just a lifestyle.โ
At PODFEST Naija 2026, Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat says the cityโs traffic has become part of the everyday experiences that shape Lagosโ cultural identity.

The West industrialised by stealing Africaโs resources and kidnapping its people for forced labour.
Then turned around and managed to convince Africa that it could not industrialise unless it sought foreign direct investment, a.k.a. foreign direct entrapment.
This colonial mentality is why Nigeriaโs president, Bola Tinubu has given the United States unfiltered access to Nigeriaโs $700 billion worth of minerals in the name of โforeign direct investment.โ
Mind you, Africa still possesses the material resources and human capital that formed the foundation of Western industrialisation.
Chai. This is a very sad situation.

๐จ๐ฃ: GHANA'S PRESIDENT SHOCKS THE WORLD AT UN! ๐๐
"AFRICA WILL NOT REMAIN A PASSIVE ARENA FOR A NEW SCRAMBLE FOR RESOURCES!"โ
Ghana's President John Mahama just fired a STARK WARNING to America, China and Europe at the 81st UN General Assembly! ๐ณ
> "Critical mineral extraction in Africa must not replicate the colonial era exploitation. We will process our minerals at home. We will build local industries that create dignified jobs for our youth, and we will retain the value of our natural resources in Africa." ๐ฏ
He said NO MORE exporting raw lithium, cobalt, copper for others to refine and sell back to us at 10x price!.๐ฏ
He also demanded:
โ
Permanent African seat on UN Security Council
โ
Reform of global financial system
โ
Africa wants PARTNERSHIP, not charity!
"THIS IS THE SPEECH EVERY AFRICAN HAS BEEN WAITING FOR! ๐ฏ
"Do you support President Mahama's statement?" ๐ฏ
"A. YES - Africa must process its own resources! Enough of exploitation!" ๐ฏ
"B. NO - We still need foreign investors, we can't do it alone" ๐ค
"C. Words are sweet, but action is what we need - Will they really do it?" ๐ค
