Buganda is a unique kingdom. The subjects fully understand their role in the maintenance and development of the kingdom, and they’re fully in charge. It’s the only kingdom in Uganda whose king isn’t facilitated by the central government. The kingdom doesn’t need to grovel before anyone to survive. The subjects willingly fund the institution, and the results are visible for anyone to see.

Dr. Jimmy Spire Ssentongo @SpireJim has spent years using his voice and talents to hold power accountable as his contribution towards a better society for us all. Instead of honoring his work, the regime is actively working to silence him through, among other oppressive tactics. A court order was recently issued against him, by which he is required to pay a total of UGX 30,000,000/= within 14 days or spend three months in prison. Why? Because he made a post on his social media platform calling out an injustice that, in the court's wisdom, amounts to contempt. I am calling on all Ugandans of good conscience, in Uganda and abroad, to stand with Dr. Spire in whatever way we can, and help him resolve this challenge.

Like the killers of Kaweesi, Kirumira etc ... Innalillah Wainalillah Rajoun – at Kampala, Uganda
A retired soldier of the NRA war once told me that killing a person is no small feat. That even the best amongst them during that war – the most daring – had to often inoculate themselves with mind-numbing substances before dangerous missions. I’m not pleading for anyone’s innocence. I'm just a curious anthropologist. I refuse to believe that nine CIVILIANS, with no military training, abducted a daughter of someone close to the president, held off ALL state agencies – police, UPDF, JATT, CMI, SFC, GISO, PISO – for a full seventeen (17) days. Then coldly chopped off the fingers of their victim, and coldly sent them as a package to her family. That these civilians had power to intercept police and the president’s phone-calls. Had recording and editing equipment (to send video to family); used over 17 sim cards – but are simply deranged civilians. After receiving their bounty – which family says seemed not to be their interest – they then coldly murdered their victim. These civilians must be a special breed. Especially that this was also their first expedition. No experience whatsoever? THEN: After all this special display of coldness, heart and bravery, they then stupidly went around town, with their newly found wealth, and started buying land and secondhand automobiles. Like no one would question their sudden wealth. Neither of them considered going outside of country – they had the money – or just going underground knowing full well that an angry state was looking for them. It takes a special stupidity. And then, on the day of their sentencing, they caucused and agreed to appear dressed in typical Islamic fashion. (Like they had been dressed like this in the course of the crime). And then a video of a calm and composed woman goes viral – right after the sentencing – as she says some catchy bites about Islam and Quran, so as to complete an already established stereotype of “Muslims being inherently violent!” How did they forgot to shout Allah-Akbar after their sentencing! Look, had the Islamic civilization sanctioned abduction or ransom, I guess Muslims would have no reason to toil for their livelihoods. They would be running ransom militias. Here is an obvious irony: the people who believe and act on this sort of stone-age Islam cannot be the same people believing in the technological, and movie-like sophistication that was exhibited in Susan's murder! Here is the icing for me: In a country were prosecution is renown for coercing guilty pleas; and senior intelligence officers are renowned for cooking "intelligence reports" – and some are in jail for this crime – I'm the least persuaded about any evidence. We are talking about an openly Islamophobic intelligence that even comics run skits about beards and kanzus after reported murders. heinous crime! May Susan Magara’s soul rest in eternal peace. She deserved all the protection the state is capable of providing.

They do everything else, except caring! – at Kampala, Uganda
It is now clear as day that in cases of political nature, there is a synchronized, choreographed coordination between the Ugandan judiciary (some judges, magistrates, registrars, prosecutors), the torturous military state, and the Ugandan police to defeat non-derogable rights (freedom from torture, fair hearing, and the right of habeas corpus). The evidence is abundant - a person is abducted in broad daylight, on camera, with selected media houses in tow, held incommunicado, and tortured. His lawyers apply to court for a writ of habeas corpus; all state organs deny holding the individual. The courts offer no remedy. Then suddenly, the individual is ‘dumped’ at a police station, charge sheet ready and a judicial officer waiting to send them to prison -denying them bail on flimsy reasons. These prosecutors, judicial officers, and security officials must know that they too will one day need the protection of the law. Acquiescing in violating the law and the dignity of fellow citizens is a moral and legal failing that will consume you all too. Know that we know you.

'We place into your hands the souls of those we have lost and pray that you give strength to those who have been injured, those in detention, and those who are missing. Give grace to their families'.... Ameen Ameen – at Uganda
Dear Lord, As we mark #6YearsOfNUP today, we thank you for every blessing, every victory and every insight you have given us. The journey thus far has been filled with tears, relentless setbacks, heartaches, and roadblocks, and yet you have been with us through it all. THANK YOU. Forgive us where we have fallen short, especially those times when we have sought to rely on our own abilities and not looked up to you. We place into your hands the souls of those we have lost and pray that you give strength to those who have been injured, those in detention, and those who are missing. Give grace to their families. We place our future in thy hands. Victory is our desire - a New Uganda our ultimate goal. Be with us till we get there. Grant wisdom, fortitude and courage to all our leaders and members at all levels - more so, to our leader @HEBobiwine. Bless our country Uganda and its great people. Amen!

Nnalongo Lukwaago and Maama Janet should emulate you. Thank you Mukyaala Kyagulanyi!
My heart goes out to Maama Dr. Miria Matembe who is being hunted down and our sister @SarahBireete who just got raided. May you still gather the courage to speak your truth during this difficult time. They have built a throne for fear to reign among us and when they raid our homes and strip our dignity bare, they think they will undress our courage! We condemn every act of cruelty being unleashed on Uganda’s daughters, women and mothers. To the sisters who have been beaten, raped, raided, left alone to fend for families while the breadwinners are abducted, kept in unknown detention and silenced. Be of courage! Injustice doesn’t reign forever! History will remember your wounds!

Ako Ka Move kabadde ka bagezi bokka! – at Uganda
I have seen mixed reactions from a section of the public regarding my decision to nominate the Mawogola North MP Aine Sodo Kaguta. I understand the backlash and I absorb it in good faith. But well here is why I did so; my move was sarcastic and intended to address the issue of nepotism which has largely characterized the NRM regime. A single family has dominated all the arms of government (cabinet, judiciary and executive) and they now decide how these other arms should be constituted. They have demonstrated that they can decide who becomes Speaker or Chief Justice yet these two arms of government are meant to be autonomous. It is against this background that I decided that Hon. Sodo, a member of the ‘First family’ equally takes up the position of the Deputy Speaker since their family lust for authority and power is insatiable. To comrades who have not understood my move, please be guided that this was entirely sarcastic and that can be judged from the diction that I used to drive my point. Thank you! #PeoplePowerOurPower

In her 2011 memoir, Janet Museveni narrated how Military Commission Chairman Paulo Muwanga helped her go to London in 1980 to deliver baby Diana. That's Muwanga, the NRA's bitter enemy. But 31 years later, she didn't forget him. So, don't assume all NRM MPs will forget Among.
