🗣️ Guardiola: "They are not dead, they are people who have been killed. They are not numbers. They are lives with names, faces, families, dreams, and memories.
When we stop calling things by their rightful names, when we accept a language that hides the pain, we begin to lose our humanity.
We are living through a very dark period of our history.
We see children in Gaza searching for their parents under the rubble, asking for help, suffering from hunger, left alone. We watch them lose everything before they even have the chance to grow up.
And this hell continues; along with it, the dehumanisation of the Palestinian people persists.
Their lives are as important as ours. Their pain is not foreign to us. Let us not forget this.
To date, the Israeli government has killed more than 74,000 people in Gaza and continues to block the entry of humanitarian aid. As Gaza continues to be destroyed, the demolition of Palestinians' homes and forced displacements in the West Bank persist.
For decades, they have lived with displacement, violence, loss, grief, trauma, uncertainty, and injustice. Today, silence is a form of taking sides. And we will not remain silent. Please keep talking about Palestine. Keep defending humanity in the face of indifference."

A board member and legal advisor for an organization called Women and Men Against Child Abuse, Peter Van Niekerk, laid a complaint with the Legal Practice Council against Shadrack Sibiya's Counsel, Advocate Amanda Nel, for the remarks she made about the victims during cross examination of the IO Sergeant Ndlovu.
She had remarked in the court proceedings that the 16 year old teenager "was not coerced into sending Sibiya sexual material, she did so out of her own volition", and that the 18 year old, who had passed out, "could have woken up and asked for intercourse". She retracted her remarks but the damage was done. I'm so happy that van Niekerk took action because many of us were appalled!!!!
The Bar Council confirmed that they were looking into the matter. That is probably why you don't see her in court these days, only Advocate Killian and the Junior. It never rains but pours for Sibiya. I don't see him getting bail.

BREAKING: Updated entry guidelines for the literary prize next year:
Video footage of you staring into the distance, forming your thoughts (preferable if you say it out loud when the idea comes).
A work log detailing, keystrokes, time between paragraphs, version history, jotters where you wrote ideas. If electronic, story must be submitted with the device used for forensic analysis.
A sworn affidavit from at least one other person you discussed the story with prior to writing. Persons you are having intercourse with or who you share blood with do not qualify. An ex who hates you is an exception.
If characters are inspired by real persons, photos of said people together with any social media accounts they may have.
A log showing your blood pressure and heart rate during writing and editing.
A sworn statement signed in your own blood that every word is in fact not AI.
At least one legitimate typo per page.
A brief explanation of each metaphor and how you came about it.
A sworn statement that you posses sufficient fear of god, of AI, and of journalists who may accuse you of AI use.

So I have been following the AI allegations levelled against Simba Kundizeza, the 2026 Caine Prize winner. One of the criticisms levelled by Vauhini Vara is that Simba's writing style has changed.
So are we saying writers aren't supposed to grow and evolve stylistically?? 🙄👇🏽
