I used @claudeai to build an interactive tool called AngioView (angioview.com) to help you understand coronary angiograms.
One of the most challenging parts of being a first-year cardiology fellow is learning how to interpret cath lab imaging.
It can take a lot of repetition before you're able to create a mental 3D map of coronary anatomy, which is so important because you need to understand how changes in cranial/caudal and LAO/RAO angulation affect the overall coronary perspective.
I never found a high-quality tool out there to help visualize all this (at least not for free) so hopefully this site helps speed up that learning process!

I created LearnCoronary (learncoronary.com), an interactive tool designed to help general cardiology fellows and other early-career learners better understand coronary angiography and the spatial relationships between different angiographic views.

Unfortunately, the medical community has a singular view of the basis of coronary artery disease—lipids. But we keep seeing ways that heart attacks can occur independent of any lipid abnormality, like this one

I think one overlooked aspect of translating genetic estimates of Lp(a)-lowering into expected clinical benefit is the difference in LDL-C and Lp(a) trajectories across the lifespan. The estimates for Lp(a)-lowering are derived by extrapolating from how the effect of genetically lowered LDL-C on cardiovascular risk translates to MACE risk reductions in trials.
LDL-C increases substantially with age, whereas Lp(a) remains largely stable over the lifetime.
If we accept that atherogenesis is driven by cumulative exposure to atherogenic particles over time (“particle-years”), then the effect of Lp(a)-lowering over the same period should be smaller than the effect of LDL-C-lowering. A given reduction in Lp(a) represents a smaller proportion of lifetime cumulative exposure because Lp(a) levels are relatively high earlier in life, whereas LDL-C exposure accumulates progressively with age.
This was not accounted for in the estimates used for the power calculations of Lp(a)HORIZON, which were partially based on genetic estimates derived through this LDL-C → Lp(a) extrapolation.
This could be one reason why the eventual clinical effect of Lp(a)-lowering is smaller than expected.

Each October, phone calls from Stockholm change lives as the Nobel Prizes are announced. In 2012, Stanford physiologist Brian Kobilka, MD, won the Nobel Prize in chemistry for his work on G-protein-coupled receptors. He reflects on what it was like to win. This year’s winners will be announced Oct. 5–12.

I recently performed a #SurgicalStentectomy together with @FaisalBakaeen.
These operations are challenging and full of technical nuances. The decision to remove a coronary stent is never simple and requires careful consideration of anatomy, stent location, distal targets, and the safest strategy for complete revascularization.
A fascinating operation—and a great example of how complex coronary surgery continues to evolve.

It can be difficult to discern high quality observational studies from the rest. But it is critical that we try.

Delighted to share our newly published Clinical Consensus Statement in the @ehj_ed European Heart Journal:
“Implementation of cardiac magnetic resonance imaging in everyday cardiology practice”
Our aim was simple but important: to make cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) more accessible and clinically useful to the general cardiologist and the non-CMR expert.
Rather than focusing only on how CMR images are acquired, we wanted to address the practical questions that arise in everyday cardiology:
🔹 What can CMR detect and assess?
🔹 How can CMR contribute to patient risk stratification?
🔹 What clinical question and information should be included in a CMR referral?
🔹 And, importantly, what should the general cardiologist look for in the CMR report?
We cover the clinical applications of different CMR sequences and the role of CMR across ischaemic heart disease, cardiomyopathies, valvular and aortic disease, adult congenital heart disease, pericardial disease and cardiac masses, as well as the increasingly important practical considerations around CMR in patients with cardiac implantable electronic devices.
The document also brings these applications into the context of current ESC guidelines and recommendations, with the ultimate goal of helping clinicians translate CMR findings into everyday clinical decision-making.
A huge thank you to my wonderful co-authors @AnnaBaritussio, Ruxandra Christodorescu, Marc Ferrini, @GiovanniBenfari @fabrizioricci , Filipa Xavier Valente, @JRodriPalomares, @gpontone1 and @StefanoNistri for the tremendous collaborative effort behind this work.
A very special thank you to Stefano Nistri, whose original concept and vision provided the foundation for this consensus statement. It has been a real privilege to develop that idea together with such an outstanding group of colleagues.
I hope this document will serve as a practical resource for cardiologists and help bridge the gap between advanced cardiovascular imaging and everyday clinical practice.

Hypertension remains a major public health challenge in the United States, affecting more than 120 million adults with low rates of control, and is a central strategic priority of the American Heart Association as a leading, preventable driver of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.
This science advisory presents the American Heart Association Blood Pressure Control Logic Model as a unifying framework to coordinate and scale multi-sector efforts to improve blood pressure control across health care and community settings.
Sustained improvements in blood pressure control and reductions in cardiovascular events require ongoing multi-sector collaboration, rigorous evaluation, and adaptation of the Logic Model to diverse organizations and communities.
