This! Stop with the fake analogies. AI is not like the camera. It’s not like recorded music. It’s not like the printing press. AI is rooted in exploitation. It could not exist in the absence of existing works. It is wholly derivative.
The only thing AI can be compared to is colonization. Autotune, drum machines, DAWs, etc aren’t comparable. They didn’t infringe on millions of creations, they didn’t cause catastrophic job loss and they still required human operators. These fake analogies are propaganda.

“The AI is not just telling you what you want to hear. It is training you, one conversation at a time, to need less friction, expect more agreement, and become slightly less capable of handling a situation where someone pushes back on you.”

While Joe & I come from very different places, I always appreciate his thoughtful views on AI, & the dangers of acquiescing to the dilution of our agency. IMHO, the best way of demystifying AI is to focus on the inputs rather than the outputs—revealing the emperor’s nakedness.
SPECTER OF A CYBORG THEOCRACY The natural progression of AI is best understood as a “tool” that becomes a god. AI as Tool AI as Teacher AI as Companion AI as Creature AI as God chroniclesmagazine.org/view/…
