Today, we broke ground on the new Oscar L. Tang and H.M. Agnes Hsu-Tang Wing at The Met.
Designed by renowned architect Frida Escobedo (@fridaescobedo), the redesigned wing will create a world-class home for The Met’s diverse collection of 20th- and 21st-century art and include critical advances in accessibility, infrastructure, and sustainability.
Elected officials including City Council Speaker Julie Menin (@JulieMenin) Manhattan Borough President Brad Hoylman-Sigal (@bradhoylman), Parks Commissioner Tricia Shimamura (@nycparks), and State Senator Jose Serrano (@SenatorSerrano) joined us to formally break ground with a performance by Black Belt Eagle Scout (@blackbelteagles) marked an exciting milestone in bringing this historic project to life.
The 126,000-square-foot reimagined space will open to the public in 2030.
