A nice study’s by Andy Hill summarising the perfectionism literature and how we can use some recent advances analytically to help address on-going debates in the area. Most points could also be utilised for other multidimensional psychological factors!

Psychological safety in sport = more than “feeling safe.”
2025 study found it shows up in 2 ways:
⚽ On-field → freedom to take risks & be creative
🏑 Off-field → freedom to speak up & raise issues
When absent: silence.
When present: learning, trust, mental health.
Coaches set the tone.

Being kind boosts mental health more than seeking joy.
Evidence: Doing 3 random acts of kindness a week is enough to reduce depression, anxiety & loneliness. It's more beneficial than doing nice things for yourself.
