I am super excited to share our paper in the AJRCCM! @ATSBlueEditor. We have evidence to suggest that, in addition to TBX4 and SOX17, developmental transcription factors like FOXF1 may play a role in the development of adult lung vascular disease! 🔗 doi.org/10.1093/ajrccm/aamag…

-Why is this confocal always broken in some way? *checks the reservation log* -Oh, almost 40 hours of use for this week from a single lab.

With the amount of times the CA DMV made me do their online test to renew the license I must be the safest driver in California.

Today in @NatureBiotech we report OptiPrime, a mechanism-based machine learning model for predicting prime editing (PE) efficiencies and suggesting pegRNAs to achieve a user-specified edit. OptiPrime incorporates biochemical knowledge about PE into its mathematical structure, enabling training on ~300,000 PE efficiencies collected using 40 experimental conditions in multiple labs, and outcome predictions of PE variants such as twin prime editing not used in its training. OptiPrime enabled the rapid identification of efficient PE strategies across a variety of applications in vitro and in vivo, and could outperform months or years of manual experimental optimization. Try out OptiPrime here: optipri.me PDF: drive.google.com/file/d/13JZ… 1/15

For biologists using Claude Science, here is Motif, an AI-native molecular biology workbench plugin. Now, you don't need to leave Claude Science to view and operate on your sequences. Motif gives the full power of Claude to your upstream mol bio workflows, such as asking Claude to: 1) fetch the genes in a target pathway and annotate them, 2) perform and view multiple sequence alignments using your preferred alignment tool, 3) design and label CRISPR-Cas guide sequences, and much more. Motif was built as part of the "Built with Claude: Life Sciences" hackathon, and is an MIT-licensed, open source plugin. Also, Claude made this demo video using HeyGen's Hyperframes and Elevenlabs TTS.

Fetal Bovine Serum is one of those products people try not to think about. It rests in the methods sections of Nature publications and in the hefty Quartzy bill associated with running a lab. It has been the bedrock of our field since 1958, when Theodore Puck formalized it as the essential, undefined part of a universal media.

Poca gente con esa experiencia va a aceptar un contrato de 6 meses. Mejor mandar a alguien de estancia para aprender IMO.
We are offering a 6-8 month contract to set up human iPSC tools in our lab, funded by an ERC grant. Please contact me by email if you are interested.

Joder, pues mi fingimiento colectivo está siendo sangre sudor y lágrimas.
y más teniendo en cuenta que las estancias es un fingimiento colectivo y una especie de teatrillo

I definitely let the crappy iECs decide if I am having a good or a bad day.

This is a good chance to meet my boss, Marlene has a gift to help you dissect extremely complicated questions into manageable experiments. Don’t miss this seminar! She is an extremely good mentor (and tough when needed).

I was definitely not expecting that tweet to hit that hard. I had to silence the tweet because it was distracting me too much lol, but I will try to reply slowly to whoever is left.

In January, I reviewed a Review for a crappy MDPI journal. It was 100% AI, missing citations, etc. I sent a massive report, and the authors withdrew it. Today, I see it published without a single change in another even crappier MDPI journal.

I still think MDPI journals can have legit papers every now and then, but they are totally buried in a mountain of low-quality papers and terrible reviews. Long story short, I avoid citing MDPI stuff in general because they ignore reviewers.
