This is a great chance for a 3 year position in Active Inference and HCI, together with myself, @jhnhw and @ssteinresearch
36 month Postdoc position on DIFAI project (difai-project.org/) , lnkd.in/e9VCB4UF
Knowledge of active inference, probabilistic modelling and advanced machine learning techniques, & ability to develop novel theory and build and evaluate working interactive prototypes.
This will be presented at
@acm_chi ACM SIG CHI'26 on Monday 13th April at 4:30pm, In Barcelona. Come along if you are at CHI!
@jhnhw @ssteinresearch @ERCDIFAI
New from #TOCHI: Active Inference and Human-Computer Interaction by @MurraySmithRod , @jhnhw , and @ssteinresearch . A review of how Active Inference could support #HCI research and design by modeling the interaction loop itself. dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/37628…

We show that in simulations of a mouse pointing task, intermittent planning reduces computational cost while maintaining performance, making IAIF attractive for practical modelling workflows.
Rod Murray-Smith retweeted
Although we focus on intermittent planning, intermittency can be applied to other cognitive processes performed by an agent, such as sensing, inference, or acting . Combinations of different types of intermittency may be suitable for different environments, tasks, or agent.
