Today, we mark the International Day of Remembrance of the Roma Genocide and honour the memory of more than 500,000 Roma and Sinti who were murdered during the Nazi era.
🇸🇮 Slovenia strongly condemns hate speech, racism, discrimination, xenophobia, extremism, and all other forms of intolerance. We remain firmly committed to protecting human rights, their universality, and the dignity of every individual.
Education and awareness-play a vital role in preserving historical memory and preventing the recurrence of the atrocities of the past. This year, the Slovenian 🇸🇮 delegation to the IHRA prepared a Slovenian translation of the IHRA Recommendations for Teaching and Learning about the Persecution and Genocide of the Roma during the Nazi Era, intended for teachers and the wider public.
Remembrance is also a commitment to ensuring that such crimes are never repeated.
