France had riots, so a minister summoned TikTok, Meta, YouTube, X, Snapchat and Discord to an emergency meeting. They left promising to remove more content, act faster on livestreams and hand user data to police. Gabriel Attal wants the power to block platforms during unrest, despite France’s top court ruling his TikTok ban in New Caledonia illegal. There are no new laws or court orders. The government just needed a crisis to implement its agenda. reclaimthenet.org/france-pre…

🆔Denmark's national ID registry suffered a major data breach, leaking 8.8 million records. The UK government’s plans for passport ID checks to access social media carry the same risk: our data becomes a honeypot for hackers. Say no to digital ID checkpoints⤵️ bigbrotherwatch.org.uk/subsc…

40% of patients suffering from dementia have “VBD” (vocally disruptive behavior) They are sudden, disruptive and surprising to the patient. Which is why he seems stunned for a moment. The reason they keep giving him the MoCA test, is they know he is in severe cognitive decline. He is a national security risk.
Trump makes an indescribable sound effect: "I'd say 90% of the reason I took the governor-- EUHHH"

SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios. The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios. Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even “day after” scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said. Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior. Read my latest for Axios here: axios.com/2026/10/22/ai-agen…

Australia’s Communications Minister Anika Wells is lobbying governments around the world to adopt her Digital Duty of Care bill as a model. It isn’t law yet, and it may not survive the Senate. The 90-page text never mentions free speech once, lets regulators run fake “sock puppet” accounts, and tells platforms the cost of compliance must not be taken into account. Fines reach A$109.2 million. To keep under-16s away from feeds and likes, every user will have to prove their age first. Meanwhile, her existing under-16 ban is so widely ignored that she is preparing to sue five platforms over it. Exporting a disgraced law that doesn’t even work at home is a bold sales strategy. reclaimthenet.org/australia-…

How can the UNELECTED NSW “leader” of One Nation charge taxpayers for 71 beers and 23 bottles of wine….. when he is not a member of the NSW Parliament? Well done to the public servant who told him to fuck off, as the NSW taxpayers aren’t paying for his grog.

So one of the main accounts on X, who has for years fought to provide accurate information about the Andrew & Tristan Tate case, has been suspended. @CrayonMurders has also been facing legal action from the Tates, alleging his factual content was "defamation", along with trying to force X through the courts to identify him. Really hope @Safety & @support work quickly to reinstate this account, which is the very epitome of a free speech battle.

One good comment to the UK Online Safety Act consultation: age verification mandates are exposing UK Internet users to unbelievable levels of opsec and identity theft risk, drive people to the dark web, and could be abused by future govts. From: an actual software developer

“The government makes a terrible parent.” Maureen Flatley has spent decades in child advocacy. In this conversation, she explains why outsourcing parental responsibility to the government — through bills like KOSA, age-verification mandates, and endless platform lawsuits — isn’t just ineffective. It’s actively dangerous.States have a long track record of failing the kids already in their care. Existing child-protection laws already hold parents responsible. And policies that give parents a false sense of security while ignoring actual predators make the problem worse, not better. Parents are the firewall. The government is not.

Another day dawns, wondering which woman Trump has publicly berated today and which man he's praised for having a nice "ass".
What a fucking joke of a president.

I asked AI (second time; different AI) what it thought the tone and intent of the document was. Grok said similar to ChatGPT. Briefing note, "dirt file" call it whatever you want, but it's a political attack. @Albo is a hypocrite.

Ever wondered why most of Canada's big lakes lie along this line? It's because meltwater from an Ice Age ice sheet collected at the edge and formed Lake Agassiz. Much of the water drained away. However, some remained in a linear arrangement, forming the lakes that we see today.
