As seen in other states, the SC voucher fund has insufficient accountability & oversight.
So far:
- $1.5 million sent to Florida-based company called Class Wallet to administer.
- $1.5 million spent on 4,387 computers. We don’t know what type of computers are being bought or if they are being returned for money or credit.
- Homeschooled children have received vouchers, which is illegal under voucher law. How will these funds be recovered?
- One voucher recipient was attending a school in a different state.
- Who are the 453 tutors? What are their qualifications?
All of these issues with just 1,845 vouchers. Imagine if we did have 10,000 vouchers.
